Doctors are threatening to go on strike over the issue of their payroll being devolved to the counties.

My question is, what is the problem with that? Health is one of the devolved functions and will now be handled at county level. Donge! So shida iko wapi?

What is it that Doctors want? I want to understand their stand and and their argument before I start casting stones. Nauliza nielimishwe.

A civil servant's payslip is usually posted on the ghris before salary checks into the bank accounts. Today is 30th July yet no payslip has been posted for health staff. The transitional authority stated categorically that the counties would be given 6 months to put their structures in place so they can handle salaries. Other ministries whose functions have been devolved have been paid already. If you were in the shoes of the aforementioned, would you continue working comfortably? Doctors are not against devolution, they feel it should be done gradually. Comprende?

No, the perception created is that the government is taking health lightly. These people provide an essential service to society, the least the government can do is pay them for work done.

I think they're over-reacting.

On the other hand the governors are singing the central government is resisting devolution. Kenyans need to get serious on some issues some of us are in the private sector and things are not better either but tunavumilia.

I think everyone including the govt is taking the health services sector lightly and as joke and only a strike will solve this issue. The devolved county govts are presently unable to pay the kanju workers on time, daktari ndio wataweza.....

There should have been a Health Services Commission protected in the constitution in the first place, just like Police and Teachers.

I agree that it is irresponsible to devolve some critical services especially at this initial stages. Devolution should be done gradually.

I think its easier to devolve education than healthcare, what happens to the counties that can not afford to pay the doctors, watu waanze county migration.
But its funny that the central government decides where to post the doctors
