Why do they print the ballot papers in UK when the Govt owns Delarue.

If the green books are fed into the system to generate a register....why do they rely on the hard copy to verify a registration.

The constitution require a continuous registration of voters why aren't they doing it.The Makueni by election fiasco would have been avoided if these constitutional requirements were followed.

If it is only parliament that can vet/supervise IEBC doesnt that make it immune to vetting if it rigs in a party with a majority in parliament.

Print the same in Kenya and it will be said Delarue is owned by so & so.
Who do you want to vet/supervise IEBC now?Give solutions.

What was the purpose of investing in a printing press like Delarue if govt contracts are given to oversees companies.As the argument in the supreme court said ...a ballot paper is not a Vote....so what we need is a ballot paper with good security features and that is Delarue's specialty.

On the issue of Vetting cant any Kenyan institute an audit of the electoral body and the report made public.I think it is quite wrong for an independent body, that has been entrusted with safeguarding a very important pillar in our democracy,to be viewed as partisan because of systemic failures which No one has been held responsible for to date.

Voter registration should just be like getting an ID continuous just the same way ECK used to do it...IEBC is just complicating a very simple process....and only rush when there is a deadline.

what you have said is totally true but many people will see it with "googles" as we normally say...esp the continous registration...thats very important.

@Selah...good points.
I bet Delarue could do it,but it might not be cheaper.Also, they might not want to be associated with the usual Kenyan politics where people burn companies associated with some people etc.

The "any Kenyan" you've talked about, do you have any example?The truth is that any institute is always seen to be leaning towards a certain side due to the "googles" effect.Individuals will also always be viewed with the same "googles".

Continuous registration...I support.But you would have to pay clerks & setup offices to register people yet only 2-3 people register per day.

Most of the foreign Cos the Government deals with are located in worse places than our river rd. A country that cannot trust its institutions and people cannot be helped. Our unofficial motto is "its okay as long as it is imported".

This type of complication may actually be intentional....

I hope they will manage to print ballot papers for Makueni with "my boy Junior" on it...
