They already have estimates of Sh12.6 billion ($150 million)for land acquisition. Unless KAA has already identified the land , then the land / house owners in that area should brace themselves for any eventuality.

15,000 acres?? that's more than the size of syokimau!! a third and 4th runway when the current one is not 100% utilized?? then if you calculate that amount and what people have invested there... its like 800K per acre na nyumba bado haujalipwa funny!!

For them to acquire the core Syokimau land which is built-up they would need to pay for the land at commercial rates, otherwise they will be fighting legal battles against all sorts of residents. It would be strategy that is unnecessarily expensive with little chance of success.
If you look at gmaps, there is a stretch that is empty to the North of the airport and I think this is the target. And I think there is some rent seeking at play here...

Are you sure it is legally yours and you were not conned ukauziwa uwanja wa ndege? I hope people now know how to follow procedure when acquiring land.

Rerask! The article is clear. It says ACQUIRE land meaning KAA acknowledges the land is not theirs. This will have to follow the rules of compulsory acquisition as set in Land Acquisition Act. They will value your land and improvements and add a figure for disturbance. They pay you this then it becomes their land. Alternatively, they could give you another piece of land(unlikely). Get a lawyer, let him comb through Cap 295 for you when it starts. The Mavoko MP could help you get more than the legal share by politicising.
