If it was entirely up to you to decide (which it is), would you import it? If yes, go right ahead. If no, then don't. Ultimately it's your car, not theirs. gesowan wrote:Thanks @Rankaz13...am just soliciting for ideas to help me make up my mind and thanks again Ok @gesowan. May I suggest that you approach it from a different point of view. Begin by asking yourself: "What would I like my car to do for me?" Or in other words, what would you wanna use it for? Thus, if you want a car to ferry your family, you go for a station wagon or van for instance, whereas if you want a car that you'll use to mostly ferry goods, then in that case you go for a pick-up, and on and on. Let's hear the opinion of other wazuans. Wish you all the best. Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

Having owned 4 vehicles (2 of them being Subaru legacy - which is my current vehicle as well) in the last 6 years,I think I can offer you the formula I used: I looked at what I could afford and what I wanted the vehicle for. So, look into the following: -How much money are you willing or do you want to spend? - Maintenance costs - how often will your car need repairs/service and at how much. - Fuel consumption - bei ya mafuta ni ghali - 1500cc or 2000cc - the more cylinders/cc the more fuel it consumes - Safety rating - how many airbags etc - Where will you be driving - around town or up country - all wheel drive, front wheel, or 4 wheel drive? - Will this be your daily runner or for biz - How many passengers will you be carrying on average or most of the time I sat down, narrowed down my top 3 or 4 vehicles that I wanted. Plugged in the pros and cons into a spreadsheet - the one with most pros is the one I bought! One last thing: It'll be your car, get what your heart desires, the one that will make you happy! Personal opinion: Subarus are good cars. Been happy with the two legacies that I've owned! Good luck! “None but ourselves can free our minds.” - Bob Marley

Good luck! willing to spend 1.2 -1.5 million maintenance cost is not an issue(disregard) displacement 1800(1.8 L)- (2.0L)2000 safety rating not an issue driving around town with an occassional drive to my rural home this will be for daily commute to work passengers -two penny -stocker weka hiyo kwa spread sheet yako unipe jawabu

Assume you blow up the engine...Replacing it will set you back waay over 100K or even replacing the timing belt system this is about 50K Every time you do a major service weka between 30-40K.

You mentioned going to shags, how is the road? Some of the car models being suggested here cant handle those rural roads. In that sense, I can vouch for a forester.
na timing belt si 50k as someone said. its around 15k.
service with original parts is ; spark plugs - NGK platinum 8k Oil - 4,500 (Xenol or other synthetic) Air cleaner - - range from 1k to 1500 depending on where you get it,
Fuel filter - around 3k but unaeza ngojea sale za subaru kenya
oil filter - 1k to around 1500 depending on where you buy.
The parts that you must never have to buy mataa - front and engine. if you maintain car well kwa nini engine iharibike?

Those days are approaching fast. @gesowan, Congratulations on your new purchase. You want to avoid being caught talking over the phone by the cops. Look for me so we can sort that ---> HERE Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.
