So here I am, about to have a car transferred to me. Niko na "Form C", registration certificate, valid insurance certificate na copy za ID na PIN certificates zangu na zake. Now, please help me answer the following questions...

1) How much money should I expect to pay at Times Tower?

2) Do I have to literally yank out the number plates from the car and carry them with me to Times Tower?

3) Can I go to the DC's office instead of Times Towers? I am looking to avoid queuing for too long...

4) The insurance is not in the current owner's name. Is that a problem?

5) I am considering painting the car a different color, how long does it normally take to have the registration certificate updated accordingly?

Answer the ones you can...

Thank you.

1. Look at the back of the "Form C". it depends on engine size.
2. No
3. Pay someone to queeuee! for you
4. Not a problem but it's risky not insuring it yourself
5. Depends on how soon you intend to change the colour. If immediately then paint first then apply for change as you do the transfer.

Silly me! Should've seen that.

2. No

So these things on the thread I linked to are not true? Can't seem to find anything like that in Cap 403 either.

3. Pay someone to queeuee! for you

Good idea.

4. Not a problem but it's risky not insuring it yourself

Why? I can't lodge claims using this certificate or what? In any case I was asking with respect to the transfer.

5. Depends on how soon you intend to change the colour. If immediately then paint first then apply for change as you do the transfer.

Makes sense.
