Is it possible to turn a leasehold into a freehold? If it is, what is the process and costs? Thank you Sehemu ndio nyumba

Yes, possible but at a fee depending on the value of the unimproved land and unexpired term. Visit Lands Department, Ardhi House for further direction. “small step for man”

Ceinz-thanks. So as an example, if its a Ksh1m plot based on a lease with effect from 2011, what would be the rough cost? Sehemu ndio nyumba

I don't think you can change a leasehold to free hold.
I am not an expert on this. Just my 2 cents

There may also be restrictions on some types of property, so as I said earlier pay the lands guys a visit. “small step for man”

@Marty,@Vj,where are you,the authority on land matters because I doubt it has ever been and will ever be possible but the lease can be renewed.
