after the elections I decided to take my copy of the 2010 constitution to refresh myself and ensure that my rights are not trumpled upon.

I came across this :

Article 231(4)
notes and coins issued by the central bank of Kenya may bear images that depict or symbolise Kenya or an aspect of Kenya but shall not bear portrait of any individual.

Ala so the next president will not appear in Kenyan legal tender? hata kaforty bob coin kama kibaki?
and those in circulation released after Aug 2010 with individual images? are they legal tender?
lawyers?

I think the key word there is 'issued'. They will not ISSUE such currency {starting when???}, but the one in circulation shall continue through its useful life. My 2 burukenges.

There have been no new notes since 2010 due to the De la Rue Saga.Same to coins but the reason for coins I don't know.Is it true that certain 10bob coins go for kshs.500?

SIXTH SCHEDULE(Article 262)
TRANSITIONAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL PROVISIONS

Part 6—Miscellaneous matters

Currency

34. Nothing in Article 231(4) affects the validity of coins and notes issued before the effective date.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
