We say we want clean leaders.

They should never have stolen anybody's chicken, they should never have landed on more than one airport, they should never have been accused of any wrong doing, they should never have drank alcohol, smoked a big cigarette or failed to go to church on Sunday.

Cleanliness in this case can only be measured by what was not done. Is cleanliness the highest attribute we need for a leader in Kenya at this time? Is it possible for someone with a record of unclean transgressions to possess leadership qualities that would greatly benefit the country?

Is anyone really clean? Is there any of us here who can happily allow us into their secrets and past life? Do we demand from our leaders that which we cant attain?

But to answer the question, yes, it is leaders have had a Saul to Paul conversion that do well. Most of the worshipped revolutionaries tend to believe that absolute power is their right as compensation for their troubles. Ask Bob of Zim. Or revisit the Jomo case in Kenya. On the other hand, wasnt Obasanjo a military ruler? Isnt Kagames role in the 94 genocide questionable? Yet we hail them as good leaders and for Obasanjo, as a President who encouraged democracy!
