The allure of penny stocks did you in coz you can't chalk this one to a bear market par se. But you aren't badly off if safcom div is enough to blunt the sting of that loss.
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

Investors bought a total of 654,200 shares of Mumias Sugar Company in three days without knowing that the miller had been placed under receivership, turning the spotlight on KCB Group.
Investors unwittingly bought the miller’s shares on Friday and Monday, enabling the sellers to pocket Sh180,680 and trapping the new owners in a stock whose trading at the NSE looks uncertain.

The stocks were sold at a price of between Sh0.27 and Sh0.28. The average volume of 218,066 shares dealt over the three days is significantly above the normal average of 139,000 units, according to statistics from data provider Refinitiv.

If you buy a monkey and the monkey leaps out of your hands, you cannot go back to the seller and ask for a refund of your money.

Go after your monkey. Chase it down the road. Leap to the trees and swing after it. When you get tired go back home and remind yourself never to buy a monkey again.

I still don't see how an entire people's source of income can be let to collapse by a sitting government.Sad

The government doesn't owe anyone a living. Farmers sold their shares in Mumias Sugar instead of taking control of the firm. No skin in the game. For better or worse look at tea farmers under KTDA who own the factories.

The government owes the people everything, they are the reason it exists. Apart from those like the governor and their reports, which I think was nothing but support campaign for his presidential hopes.
