Mumias Sugar Company set to open after agreement with Kenya Power

-I see like I shall be having some beers vvery soon.

Laughing out loudly Poor man!!. They had 2800 tonnes of burnt and stale cane which they crushed within 10 hours and then STOPPED!! At current conditions, it would take 96 hours of continuous crushing to get the first KG of sugar out. I still maintain it wont happen this year. The best they can do is to turn whatever juice they got to syrup and then direct it to the ethanol plant.....that will give them an outside chance to make 10 litres of ethanolsmile

@Njunge;
What prescription would you give to a mad man thinking about acquiring 51% of MSC at no more than 30% upside of current share price?
Sinking 700M; then put another 500M and re-jigg the miller and the market; do you see money back in 5 years...mutati mutandi?

Overall, they require about 1b to refurbish the plant and possibly a further 3b to Kickstart cane development and streamline transport and harvesting. Other debts are in excess of 6b and you can see how grave the situation is but..... anyone able to overcome local politics of the day and is ready to invest such an amount, would have his money back under 4 years. That, I am sure.

Now that this week has been all gloomy, with poor results ( expected ) but nothing printed in the press in regard to results or planned AGM date, i hope there will be something good next weeek.

Excellent, please confirm when the rights issue will be announced, or the EAGM was just a hoax. Mumias will definitely shock the prophets of doom calling for its closure.

I find that food sector is very good option for portfolio diversification. It is true that sugar price is relatively volatile with respect to supply and demand but I find that its use will never decrease with increase of world population. So, the price can only go up

Mumias Sugar accuses rivals of sabotage
https://www.businessdail...8666-g0kpknz/index.html
"...reduce its bloated workforce from 1,680 to 465" Applause Applause Applause but can they as long as GoK is involved?
"..plans to get rid of their non-core business like the airstrip, golf course, schools and water bottling company as they concentrate on sugar milling." Applause Applause Applause Golf course? Schools? Airstrip? d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!
Probably for the mdosis while it was profitable. Or for Kidero while he laid the groundwork for the looting.
"...plans to commercialise the 2,200 housing units which will go at the market rate" Think Think Think Are these existing housing stock or they want to build houses?

"The miller has in recent years received billions of shillings in bailout from government." d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! Flushing down good money after bad!

Nothing new here. The airstrip has been idle for over 20 years, Booker Academy has been running on it's own since 2008,the houses are in a serious state of disrepair and I can't see what they will do with them, many employees left on their own and so there is no workforce to reduce while the bottling plant stopped production about 4 years ago. In a nutshell, this proposals are nothing but UTTER RUBBISH.

Same sentiments as mine? What a coincidence! smile..nobody in that organization as of now, knows what to do. Total lack of leadership.
Meanwhile, total debt has risen to kshs 24,722, 121,001. Within the same period, those useless directors took home a cool 38 million for doing nada.
