Anyone with ideas on how to make the most money from an investment of 30 million in bills or bonds without risking any of it as i have to use it for an agreed payment in a year so might as well squeeze whatever i can from it?

no obv to use the funds, i want an alternate place to put it rather for it to sleep in the bank and get a lower rate than i can get in tbills for example for a year. So i am asking if you could share which bills or bonds you think would be the most advisable

Thats a good problem you have right there. Enjoy it.

Take the money to any mmf the likes of amana, icea.
You will know that you have arrived when money and time are not mutually exclusive "events" in you life!

fast time i checked t-bill rates were at 10% and coming down fast . thats why the market is rallying accordingly .
dipping the whole 30 million i would go for undervalued stocks like kcb, equity. ans some industrial stocks

Drool Drool Drool good money!
keep it in the bonds. interest rates coming down so the price of bonds will rise. you can sell then, for capital gains.

Running up to an election in 9 months or so..? you know what happens ....investments starting running south due to all the market uncertainty ...this can blow up in your face very spectacularly ...dont play with your client's funds, slippery path.

And if interest rates reverse the downward trend in the coming days, s/he will be locked for more than a yr or suffer losses. Anyway, the risk is lesser than in stocks

1. what would make interest rates turn
2. if they do turn wont that mean that stocks will also suffer?

Am wondering, how will cbk deal with the too much money that will be circulating this election year. It could certainly mess things up.

Your note 2 is on point.

I agree with anyone who said you buy the 5 year bond with the interest rates dropping you can make upto 100 basis point gain on the sale of the bond on the secondary market but 30 million in itself is somehow of an odd lot but most definetly you will get a buyer the problem is what price to bid for the bond coz if am not wrong the outcome will be market determined...my advice dont even think of doing stocks.

where did you get 30million if you don't know where to keep it? Return to whoever gave you and tell them to give it to you in one year!
