The price is still way too high for this stock and with a rights issue on the way, I shall buy 100 shares at 45 or below and then wait.. Fair value ignoring all emotions is KES 32

your dream may have been fake,on release of rights news the share touched 50 today meaning everybody is willing to be part of the rights

January 20.2015.. I foresaw the turmoil as guided by the exchange bar, but lust pulled me back into HF, now im down 52%, waiting for some info tomorrow upon which I will decide whether to bite the bullet or ride the bear

I was pulled in by the Komarock housing scheme too much faith that Komarock heights would do well with the outer ring road but I should have scrutinized the capital structure and liquidity ratios. Tied up my capital in this value trap.

I also heard another bank saying it was duped by a report to sink 400m in uchumi and wants refund so you are not alone

Terrible turn of events at JBB

I usually believe that in a bear market, value traps exist only in the mind.

What would I do if I found myself in such a situation?....

.... I would book the loss and switch to a more promising counter immediately then be patient with your new BAE. The only cost would be the transaction cost of the switch. Assuming that I'd have actually bought into a much better counter, then I'd would be in a much better position once the market stops feeling gloomy.
There are too many opportunities all around. Open your eyes and maybe you'll spot one

Now this kind of thinking is exciting. Too many renters who can upgrade and also the stone age houses in the rural areas that can be upgraded.

Quote:
Leading mortgage financier Housing Finance plans to reduce the size of home loan for the middle and low income earners to stimulate uptake. The lender said it plans to offer mortgages at 10 per cent, which is below the market rate of 14 per cent.

The mortgage financier, which controlled about 24.3 per cent market share in 2015, yesterday said it is developing a product that will allow prospective homeowners access funding of between Sh1.5 million and Sh4 million under the preferential terms. This will be through a proposed special Sh10 billion fund in partnership with international investors. Managing director Frank Ireri said the lender has opened talks with local and international financiers. The fund, he said, will be rolled out mid next year.

“It is one of the things we are doing to help with the development of affordable housing. We are already talking to a number of impact investors to create the fund for lending to customers,” Ireri said. “The idea is to keep mortgage repayment as low as possible and closer to what the prospective customers are now paying as rent in order to convert as many rent payers as possible to homeowners.”

If you have buddy lawyers ask them about HF business practices...This wont be the last time....they are being hit by judgements left, right and centre...Rem Captain Wafubwa's matter...more to come.

Main problem on the court matters is that the primary commodity by extension that is sold by HF is land. And we all know what land matters in Kenya entail

Another bailout. First britam, now HF.
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

Bailout term has been used loosely there, very loosely

@ Obiero please explain what you mean by very loose use of the term bailout?

Im my understanding, HF is solid but Britam, the major shareholder has a problem. That is how bailout comes in. Sell treasured asset to survive as an entity.

Oooh! I now get the point what you meant by loose sense. The so called IFC entry into HFCK does not affect the mortgage provider.
