Gor Mawe Banned from Stadiums

The Kenya Sports Stadia Management Board (SSMB) has passed a resolution to ban Gor Mahia from its stadiums for a period of not less than one year. The decision comes on the back of the ugly scenes witnessed on Sunday when Gor hosted AFC Leopards at the Nyayo Stadium. Sunday’s KPL fixture was marked by violence between the fans of the two teams during and after the match. Gor and its fans were blamed for the violence that besides leaving several fans battered and bruised also led to the destruction of property inside the stadium. Now the stadia managing body that is involved in the maintenance of both Nyayo national stadium and Moi International Sports Center Kasarani has taken the decision to ban Gor from its venues. This decision is likely to put Gor in a latch as the team does not have a stadium of its own to fall back on. If you are an eagle don't hang around with chickens; chickens don't fly....

"...The problem of crowd trouble in stadia is not unique to just Gor Mahia,it is a matter that requires the attention of all football stakeholders, from The security authorities, the clubs, the stadia management board, the Tv rights holders,KPL and even fans..."

Wonders never seem to end. @Nostop, You can dare imply 'Haki Yetu' for this Gor Mahia Hooliganism. If you bothered to see any earlier comments i made, Hooliganism is not good for any of us, but it is aproblem that has to be sorted out....the above quote is a suggestion to deal with the menace

Ditto @Nostop, and the stadia management has began the process by banning Gor from its stadiums. They are presumably tired of repairing the stadium every time Gor lose a game. It is time other stakeholders did their thing too. Police to arrest and prosecute those caught throwing stones, KPL to have teams whose fans turn to violence forfeit abandoned matches, sponsors by witholding support, mafans by identifying trouble makers etc. Great men are not always wise, neither do the aged understand judgement...

But lets forget that for the moment.... which is Gor's fallback stadium? City? what if the CNN refuses them to use the stadium as well? Kisumu Municipal? that would mean very little revenue for Gor... and ofcourse the sponsors may now follow suit and withdraw.... so iko chinda. and so @nostop, Gor needs to clean her house first, and very fast for that matter, as we figure out how to clean the whole compound. It is Gor's house that is stinking most in the compound for now, and everyone can smell from afar.. When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

How quickly do we forget, last season AFC fans beat up Gor fans during the super 8 tie pityng the two sides. Another incident a AFC fan literally canned a referee in the stadium in full view of supersport and police officers. What action was taken? Since Gor has a huge following in the country whenever an incident occurs they must be punished but other teams are ignored, why is this? The officilas together with the police must put in measures that will punish hooligans not ruining the good game by having irrational decisions. Kenya ni yetu sisi sote

When AFC chased and beat up the referee for issuing a red card (season 2011)....the media didn't jump on it... but I agree with you, Gor Mahia needs to clean up it's act....All Stakeholders involved. City stadium will be the fall back plan, I doubt Kanjo will ban them from that one...but it doesn't matter where the matches are taken...the followers go....

That ban also affects the other KPL teams that may be willing to host Gor Mawe. African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

Crowd trouble IS a problem of violent fans! Life is short. Live passionately.
