I am wondering, why does it take so long for member to release her result.

Is there anything fishy ?
Are they "re-packaging" their results in line with generous dividends from Barclays and KCB ?

It will not be a suprsise if equity returns a whooping 1.50 bob dividend far above the 1.20 dividend I projected. This might be a combination of basic dividend and "special" dividend.

It is more like a rat race.
I am really bothered about the sustenability of dividend largese from the banking sector. Other sectors except Williamson /Bat are more realistic, or better still more reasonable in their dividend declaration.

It should be recalled Equity released her FY 2010 result last year by mid february and they declared a 0.80 bob dividend .

I still maintain, do not be over exposed to the banking sector, as the euphoria may be temporary. Reduce and spread to more solid companies so as not to regret when the ill wind blows across the banking sector. It is not a matter of whether it will happen, it is more of when is it going to happen ?

@young What exactly worries you about the dividend paid by banks??

Except BBK I dont see any other bank with excessive dividends.. Even the huge dividend from KCB is only about 50% of EPS..

@young I sense that you may still be wounded or bitter about what took place in the Nigerian banking sector.. But I am in doubt that your worries will manifest in Kenya

Its a bad sign for equity to take a kalonzo style of first waiting to hear what other banks announce...who thought eqty can become the last banks to give results.

@young. I'm more worried about BBK's share not appreciating after that generous dividend than why they give the dividend. I think for bbk it's not sustainable/fake. This means at least for KCB and NIC the dividends/bonus are genuine.

smile thats funny. QW is always drumming up co-op, but he's also silent. Its a good bank, i bank there, i even like it, but i never invest in it, there's always a slighlty better opportunity. it has a bright future for sure.

@ young. I think its similar to KCB. They delayed by one or two weeks after BBK. But in truth, this is very unlike equity. I concur with your divident theory.
