In the course of the year I sent up Mpesa transactions interface and EFT payments systems servers and he has made a tidy profit. Not sure I can replicate that kind of success this year.

I'm an IT Systems Administrator.

Income from employment is taxable. I'm assuming you have given Ceasar what is due to him?

You can't claim it is a windfall (not taxable) as you have admitted that it is from your employer. Did he deduct tax at source?

@Customer,
Be sure to confirm the issue of tax.Some employers give bonuses through cheques later deduct the tax from subsequent salo's.Beware.

Otherwise ,stocks will do.

hi, your 265k bonus came at the right time to invest in a number of investment vehicles, i would recommend unit trusts, depending on your risk appetite, i would recommend the equity fund,as you stand making a tidy sum in a short period of time. 2012 being an election year,combined with other factors,investors both foreign and local are very Apprehensive about their stocks in the NSE,this is the right time to buy, at a bargain price...remember warren buffet's policy-be greedy when others are fearful,and be fearful when others are greedy? n way if you re interested. drop me an email at nicholas.mwangi@oldmutualkenya.com and do great things.

Nikimani, Old Mutual of all funds? And Equity Fund at that? NEVER. I put in KES 1M6 years ago. As at today that investment has shrunk to Kes 800,000.
What do you say now? I can give you my account details to confirm.

I talked to Old Mutua about putting in 100k for three months, and they told me the typical return is 3k Per Month !. Yeah, 3k!.

I dont understand why people put money in unit trusts yet you can manage your own investment. The money you give them they put it in stock market, treasury or off shore...yet they give you less returns...100000 @ the moment if you put it in treasury bills for 3 months you get Ksh.4000 or wait and see how deep the market will get and purchase counters with good dividend yield...
