SOMETHINGS THE 'STAR' MAGAZINE PRINT....................................
Is there any link between President Kibaki's recent tour of the United Arab Emirates and the
demolitions at Syokimau? A former senior civil servant says there is. He told Corridors that an Arab
investment company has been awarded a contract to construct a five-star hotel at the site of the
evictions. The project had initially been given to a Qatari company that lost the deal after it
reportedly failed to pay a big enough bribe to some powerful people. We are told that the new
investors may have generously greased the palms of some influential people. The demolitions
happened just a week before the presidential visit to UAE!
It is humiliating to be associated with thieves and murderers.

When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

Whaaaat? I wouldnt put that past our government... our government has become like a parent who would give birth, lets the kid fend for itself, and eats the biggest portion from its plate.... NKT!

If it is true, this stinks!

If the greasing palms is true, then it is sad. But let us not forget that most of us bought land without title. If the land belongs to someone, he can demolish your structure and do whatever he pleases with it. Most of those guys did not have title to the land. That is the crux of the matter. Not what the land was to be used for after demolition.

...And so what? The hotel will have an economic value to the country and the gava can do what it wants with its land. People build on land that was not theirs
...@Wendz...where is the stench?

But I thought KAA had started issuing eviction notices way far back -long before any deals with Arabs were cut?
