Companies that 'grew negatively'...if that is even possible..compared to last year..based on latest published accounts..

..ignored Agric and Alternative investment segments...and Carbacid & Boc which shrunk 5.71% and 3.23% respectively.

Commercial and Allied;

1. KQ; -62.01%

2. TPSerena; -46.29%

3.ScanGroup; -15.44%

4.Safcom; -11.19%

5.Car&Gen; -10.83%

6.NMG; -7.71%

FINANCE&Invest

1.Jubilee; -22.11%

2.Centum; -17.72%

D.Indust. & Allied:

1.Sameer; -95.31%

2.Kenol; -32.04%

3.Mumias; -18.76%

4.E.A.Portland; -10.48%

...just a thought though...befor u decide to write off some..these figures are from year to year... Use quarter to quarter figures to atleast point possible forward figures on comin quarter.

Dude-TPS numbers are wrong. Also think its brand and product will prevail once global credit crunch eases up later this yr. NMG number is also wrong. Dude, what earnings number are you using?

2008 Figures out by mid march..12th to be exact.....figures out after that include TPSerena(monday 30th) and NMG earlier on..

TPSerena eps of sh3.91,forward eps of 0.46,it however reported actual EPS of sh2.10.

NMG eps 7.65...forward eps 7.06..... It however reported an actual EPS of sh 9.0.. So adjust as necessary.

tps-where did you get a fwd eps of 0.46 given it hasn't announced q1? Its eps fell by 46.29%. NMG's eps rose by 19%...

Unless you post the EPS you are using, these numbers make no sense even where you extrapolate.

NMG had increased earnings.

TPS profits dropped but much better 2H vs 1H (PEV & all that)

KQ's 1H might be lower than 2H (PEV affected bookings/travel + high oil prices)

And so on...

@mainat... I'm choosing to ignore NMG end year financials and instead go with their 2nd n 3rd quarters' results of '08... For simple reason books can be cooked enough to just scrape thro some 'profits' i am not sayin they cooked their books!..just that i'm more biased toward quarterly results. Same way kq will 'beat' expectations..do worse than last year but will definately exclaim; 'Hey,we expected to perform worse!..so this poor performance is actually good!!'...

Actually... it is easier to 'cook' un-audited results... Of course, audited results can be cooked as well but much harder vs quarterlies.

Most banks comb thru their portfolios at year-end so they can provide for NPLs coz they need to be audited & sent to CBK.

Well-capitalised private banks can be extra conservative & reduce their 'good' year earnings to cater for bad debts in the lean years.
