Watchin final flag off of the mercy train..a very noble idea i must say...yet i can't help but wonder..what happened to humility in charity?

A public chest thumpin fest of how sufficiently philanthropic..sufficiently charitable the organisers are.

Using a dyin and destitute draught struck kenyans to market our selves... Sad...exploitin our own for own glory..like ungreatful, ill mannered adolescent ingrates....
Successive generation after generation of a greedy corrupt wicked profane man eat man humans..time to switch off switch on humanity.
The world is meant to end after earthquakes..famines..woes,wars n rumours of wars..i think we'v had all that. Can it end now?

Jammo,

Truly. The principle of not letting your left hand know what your right hand is doing - sahau. Corporate charity work is merely a form of advertising, nothing more, nothing less.

I feel you Jammo.

In 2001,when I was still a student at one of the lunee bins we call public universities,I approached one of the continental companies for support towards our 'lunee-versity's' event.

After briefing the the beautiful lady-marketing manager, who hitherto I had only seen in magazines (I still do),she asked me a straight one ' What's in it for us?'

Quite frankly,I resonated with her question, not because of the beauty but because she very openly stated that anything they do must make business sense. That means I answered her and just fyi,I didn't get a cent from the company.

Later on,I followed a WB course on CSR and sustainable competitiveness.

Although I on principle differ,I have come to associate corporate social responsibility with corporate insincerity. In fact it is just cheap advertising.

But it's always take it or leave it! Quoi faire??
