For those who dont understand kikuyu the phrase 'gucokia ruui mukaro' simply means returning the river to its course.Martha Karua's resignation is non other than the works of the Kikuyu elites who are increasingly wary of their inability to tame the iron lady perceived to be a 'spoiler' in the Kibaki succession plan.In my own opinion the kikuyu political elites would love to do anything to ensure that the presidency remains within the 'chania river' but im proud of one Wangare becoz for one her step whilst being viewed as a betrayer by Kibaki's inner circle will go a great way in cementing our unity as Kenyans,even if Karua does stand for presidency and fails i tell you she will have served a purpose of throwing Kibakis succession plans in to dissarray,for one Kalonzo will not stand as president and win even if supported by Uhuru if Karua runs for the same office(historically the community has always voted for their own),On the other hand should UK vie supported by Kalonzo,he will fail becoz Kenyans are unlikely to accept another successive president from the same community,so in short Karua has taken the presidency from the 'tight grip elites' and once more we shall learn to live together.LONG LIVE KENYA

@danny6

I like the way you put it. I don't know who will be the next Kenya's President,but some things I know are that;

1. Kibaki and his handlers have been wary of Karua and want to support Uhuru Kenyatta for presidency. I'm not sure whether Kikuyus can vote a woman as 'president'!

2. Kalonzo whichever group/person he gets alighned to will find it hard to shake-off the 'Msaliti' (traitor) tag following the bungled 2007 elections. As acclaimed diplomat as he is he found it fit to rubbish the role of Koffi Annan in saving this country.

3. Uhuru Kenyatta/Kalonzo alliance in whichever permutation is hard to sell.

4. Kikuyus must wake up and realise that Kenyans are not prepared for another one of them to lead them,atleast for now. They will have to make the hard decission and support someone from another community. If this doesn't happen it may be time they taste the 'opposition' proper.

5. The critical changes this country dearly requires might not be effected by the current crop of old leaders regardless of where he/she comes from.

6. Project Uhuru II might be headed for the rocks.

Yes she has somehow thrown the succession plan open,UK could have been shoved down the throats of kenya same way Kibaki was. But my take is that the central-elites will try to paint Saitoti red and try to convince kenyans he is a maasai.

What I can't tell is how their poor cousins meru & Embu will react. Will RAO wrestle them away from big brother.

Tiny kalonzo offcourse will throw a tantrum and move off with his clan.

I expect Ruto to make his move soon.

I guess if you can't win with facts,you can always pen bile-laced,xenophobic rants to distract everyone.

Its very funny. You are so clouded by your Kikuyu this and that mentalilty you forget to think.

Karua is not fighting Kibaki. Kibaki is a non-entity in all this. If you ask me,Rucy is jumping up and down in state house as we speak with joy. Uhuru is the other woman's project not Kibaki's or Rucy's. So think again before you go into spasms while posting about all kikuyus not voting for a woman. In the same sentense you have Karua,Mugo,etc.

The person who is in trouble in all this is Ruto. He has to toe Raila's line or he will be dumped in a heart beat. Raila will have no problem courting Karua as Ruto and Uhuru go on with their KK project.

Note who are most pissed about Karua's resignation. Ruto and some PNU guys. Note Raila,and Orengo never uttered one bad word about Karua,though they have every reason to.

Stop thinking tribal for once in your life and think political. Raila,Ngilu,Balala,Mudavadi,Karua is an unbeatable combination. That is why Ruto is as pissed as horny dog without its biach. Karua just put a huge spanner on their so called KK thing.

The analysis is quite in order. But its too early to start thinking about all that. Karua doesnt have a constituency. In fact she had to be rescued by the same elites from loosing her gichugu seat. Her constituency is kamama and mungatana.

The political class in kenya is too rigid. Sons of former leaders and wealthy thiefs will dominate the political cycles for a long time.

One day is too long in politics; 3.5 years is a 'decade if not a century'.

Forgetting is kenyans hobby,within a month kenyans will have forgotten which ministry karua was in charge of
