Is it posible for this to be done by october?

A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility.

I was trying to evaluate what price will be used if it was decided to cönvert the price to equity,as suggested if the shareholders are unable to raise the amount.

Tall order,Layman's prediction of two years time frame realistic. Burnt my fingers and not ready so sink a cent in the debenture. Am sure many wont buy th idea.

I think people are acting on historical financial situation of uchumi and may be the horrifying investment experience they experienced when it was closed down. I must say that uchumi has really changed and their financial situation right now is very good comparatively. Mr. Ciano has really transformed it and the customer service is no longer the same. If i was a shareholder,i wouldnt not hesitate to take up the idea. plus,it will help those holding shares to shed them off when it starts trading and those willing to invest in uchumi get the opportunity. I think if i was a shareholder,i would convince the others to take up the opportunity if it will make the resume trading, then you can offload.

I wud rather put money (50,000/- minimum) in government bonds at 10% than uchumi at 10%. Less risk.

I gather the issue to be whether the shareholders will want their share value diluted by government converting debt to equity.

But Ciano's job is not enviable considering the turnaround is based on investor and consumer confidence, the latter of which he has achieved. I sense he is not confident the government will easily convert debt to equity because if the government did that, then it would be a done deal.

One of the greatest lessons investors will ever learn is it to know when to cut their losses.

There was a plan last year to raise the amount and shares were floated at 5bob each. Anyone willing to sell at this price?
