There were fresh allegations by former Local Government Permanent Secretary Sammy Kirui that Mr Tobiko used third parties to demand a Sh5 million bribe without which he would increase the charges against him over the Nairobi cemetery scandal from one to three.

Mr Kirui claimed he had a text message to that effect and had submitted it to the National Security Intelligence Service.

Mr Tobiko denied the allegations, saying he did not know Mr Kirui and was hearing the allegations for the first time on Tuesday.

who sent the sms? there are so many extortioners around and it could have a guy looking for some easy cash. And why hasn't he said so in court during the hearing of his case? me think he is a spoiler.

Kirui is really raising serious allegations.
If true, Tobiko is dead meat.
If not, Kirui himself is toast!

Trouble is how to separate truths from falsehoods. Doubts having been created as to his ethics he should not be confirmed. Move over Keriako, let us have Patrick Kiage.

The problem I have with Tobiko is that he has been part of the system since 2005 and we have not heard of any reforms all this while. That said, the allegations are pretty serious and I think someone will be forced to step aside for investigations to be carried out.

Even without these allegations, Tobiko's performance has been below par if the lukewarm prosecution of the Ruto case is anything to go by.

Pole Keriako,
