Financial year 2010 is out. Profit up from 1.9 B to 2.6 B. Dividend per share is 0.52 KShs. Impressive isn't it? Will give more detail later.

Hah! And the prospects are even better... KK says the effect on them is limited from Kenya... LOL...

Kshs 0.52 is a VERY GOOD DIVIDEND for a share that was trading at 9.35 this morning. It seems I was wrong in my interpretation of the trdaing on the counter over the last couple of days. These results are indeed pretty good.

I expect the results to be good but NOT GREAT, although an improvement over 2009. However, the results will be coming at a time when the market is in a very DESPONDENT mood. Given this scenario, unless there is a BONUS and/or a VERY GOOD DIVIDEND, it is unlikely that there will be a major improvement in price i.e. over the 10 Shs level in the short term.

It may be worth noting that just before an annoucement when results are expected to be good there will usually be a lot of activity in a stock, usually with increasing prices. I have not seen any of this with KK. But I could be wrong!

Should we expect at least a 10% rise in the price tomorrow, given the hefty dividend? I sure hope so!

‘The business visibility for 1st Half 2011 Financial year, indicates a double digit growth in Net Profit for the 1st Half 2011, compared to same period of 2010’

Confirms that price control is working to KK’s advantage. Last year they grew sales by 5.2% despite being the most expensive OMC. With price controls, even I am now fueling at KK outlets.
Had expected a bonus to conserve cash, but think about it, with such a small amount of outstanding shares, they are keeping lots of change, even after the huge dividend.

In typical Kenyan fashion, I expect a fall in price, I’m putting in more cash into this cow.
