KQ route expansion pays off with 23pc passenger growth - Latest earnings update on Kenya Airways indicate a 23 per cent growth in passengers in the quarter to December. This is attributed to the aggressive expansion and price cuts on the domestic routes executed by Kenya’s Airways top management. Passenger numbers for the quarter rose to 163,201 passengers compared to 133,301 passengers in a similar quarter the previous year. The price cuts are said to have strongly contributed to increased frequencies to Mombasa and Kisumu from Nairobi. Profit increased 66 per cent to Sh1.4 billion in the six months to September on revenues of Sh41.21 billion driven by higher passenger numbers, lower fuel hedging costs and higher yields per passenger. Africa has remained the airline’s key market with growth during the third quarter increasing by 4.2 per cent to 439,555 during the period on increased frequencies to West Africa and entry to new markets such as Juba. Since we are in the process of covering the stock, we remain neutral at this point.Applause Applause Applause

What -ve passenger numbers?

http://kenya-airways.com...aspx?colm=&cid=3628

Seems they grew passengers on every region.

RPK (overall) +8.9%
Passengers (overall) +7.3%

Europe +5.4%
Asia +1.8%
Africa +4.2%
Kenya +23%

I expect Kenya to grow further in 4Q with the dedicated Mombasa Shuttle + even lower fares.

Within East Africa, KQ has 'given' seats to Precision Air especially flights to Dar & Kilimajaro [KQ does not fly these routes but codeshares with Precision].

A random walk...

LOL... That's why Warren Buffett says buy a business not merely shares...

I am out of cash... otherwise this would be a good buy!

http://www.capitalfm.co....tch-simulator-5502.html[/quote]LOL... KQ cuts dividend from 1.75 to 1/- i.e. while others have been raising the dividend, KQ has LOWERED theirs!

BTW, where is @horton?
The simulator seems to be for 737-800s... So what about 777s? Do they still have to pay to train abroad?

Feb'09-Feb '10 price of KQ: 20->65
Feb'10-Feb'11 price of KQ: 65->40

Is this thing heading back to 20?! Maybe we can all wait for this slide and cash in. Now, airlines tend to be cyclical following economic trend. Economic numbers look good this year so the current price make no sense. Lets see how low it can go....

The share will follow the good results. What's going on is just the market voting, and the market can be very irrational. Time to buy more...
