RE: NAIROBI VIDEO NETWORK

Young Innovators is a youth group registered by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development in November 2008. The group’s objectives are diversified and are anchored on the belief of spreading sustainable technologies that can create awareness and improve societies’ awareness and wellness. This is done by dissemination of information in the simplest and most attractive ways to the society.

We wish to present to you the Nairobi Video Network. The Nairobi Video Network is a project from the Young Innovators. Nairobi Video Network is a network made up of Nairobi digital platforms each dedicated to tours, news, chat, events and businesses within and around Nairobi.

What makes Nairobi Video Network different from other similar Internet projects is its address model concept: in the address bar, you can type Nairobi followed by video.

The Nairobi Video Network aims to become the leading resource for local video content in Nairobi besides facilitating other information resources.
Our strategy: Working with relevant Site Administrators within and around Nairobi..

Nairobi Video Network

· The purpose of Nairobi Video Site is to become the first Site on which fellow Nairobians rely on to keep them informed of what's happening around them via internet either through mobile phone or personal computer. Together we will get the site up to date and cover as effectively as possible all the information of public interest related to Nairobi city. But rest assured our goal is to support information dissemination within Nairobi City.

Among the features of Nairobi Video Network:

Customize the site when we want, by selecting colours and the background picture. Visit other city sites to see the various atmospheres you can give Nairobi Site. Besides, by entering the code of the traffic analyzers e.g (Google Analytics, etc.) to obtain traffic data for all Nairobi Roads.
We shall work together to control all site content and all videos: together decide their title, the order in which they appear, etc.

Why work with us:

The local information industry is booming like the video industry:
http://techcrunch.com/20...dvertising-20-billion/.
With the address model concept Nairobi followed by video, the city is made instinctively accessible like no other site in the Nairobi and in internet as a whole.

As part of the Nairobi Video Network, the site benefits from traffic from other towns as 35% of visitors come from other towns. Local promotion operated by site will combine to provide a powerful network effect.

Over time, the videos on the network can potentially cover any requirement for local information: tours, news, events, businesses, etc. Nairobi Video Network is open to the web by allowing video embedding from other sites, thus benefiting from the widest range of sources.

Besides there will be no technical constraints. This project is capable to employ many youths too.

Free hosting, unlimited bandwidth, online support.

We are always on the go, constantly working on improving the Site model used on the network and reach our goal to become the leading resource for local video/information content.
The purpose of this letter is to request you to become a partner in this project. As a partner you will be required to contribute Ksh. 85,000 equivalent to 5% shares.

Thank you as I wait for your urgent communication.

Ahoy! I bring to the table Java (j2ee, jsp, servlets, struts ...the whole ball of wax), ajax and C programming skills over JBoss, Tomcat or Glassfish (TIBCO too, if you can afford it), Unix(HP-UX, AIX and Sun)/Linux(redhat)/Windows(2003) server skills. For noble causes like this my going rate will just be Kshs 1000 an hour.

@quicksand, TIBCO? Nice. Very expensive, huh? Would you reccomend?

Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

Olweny, good concept but basic due diligence, first you should register yourselves either as a business name or a company. A company preferable so that an investor can buy shares. Right now you are a community based organisation CBO absolutely no legal recognition. Then consider protection of your intellectual property i.e. trademark/copyright/utility model protection from KIPI. If you can be able to sort that out am sure i would be willing to consider a partnership after checking out your business plan(you have one right?). I think 85,000/= is low if you want to get the thing done right but there are plenty of investors who would be willing to support your innovation.

@Webish: TIBCO is a solid integration software. However, only corporates (and loaded ones) can play comfortably in this space. As for training (it is also costly and mostly unavailable in any other form except tutored learning) - However, I can send you a very nice, original soft book for your self advancement if you drop your email here
