For Investment purpose, we often wait to collect a large amount of money and invest it all at once. These investments are done to achieve our future goals like buying a house, child's education, marriage or retirement planning.
However recurring household expenses always erode the money which we would have otherwise kept for investments and the result - we end up compromising on our financial goals. So,in order to get the dual benefits of investment and that too of small amount periodically, we have Systematic Investment Plan(SIP).

A systematic investment plan or SIP (as it is more commonly known) is a way to invest in mutual funds with small sums of money on regularly basis typically monthly or quarterly , over a longer period of time. These small and regular investments will help in growth of your wealth in the long run and you will surely reap the benefits of the fruits that you have planted by doing systematic investments of your hard-earned money in mutual funds.

Dear Elder,

If I want to explain my post in detail to everybody, then why you are having a problem for it?

No problem if that were the case. I just can't reconcile your topic and post. Have shades of pyramid schemes and billionaire pap lotteries to me.

Honest details should have mentioned that small and periodic investments even in SIP cannot make one a billionaire.

Dear Elder,

Read my post properly. I already wrote that SIP in mutual funds can help in growth of your wealth over a longer period of time which will grow your investment pile that ultimately would result in making you a billinaire..

Ok. Wont let the title of the thread detract me from the content. Welcome to Wazua.

I was trying to imagine that i earn 50,000 per month nett and i begin saving 15,000 in a mutual fund whose returns is an impressive 10%. At the time of starting i am 30 years of age and i plann to retire at 55 years.

assuming that throughout the 25 years of earning i will not default in submitting the 15,000 and that the returns is a constant 10%, if my mathematics is correct, then by the end of the 25th year i will be having 1,804,846.80 . ajaaah...this is not for small time earners.

next, to earn a billion when the parameters remain as above, it will take 91.4years..jesus christ!!!

@Kaiganggio,

Sorry mate. Your maths are wrong.

If you invest 15000 per month i.e 180000 per year, that over 25 years alone will get you 4,500,000- WITHOUT any interest.

Now consider the impact of compound interest over the the years !!

I think you will walk away with at least 20 Million not 1.8 million as you state.

A billion is another story !!!!

KAIGANGIO:If after saving for 25 years you will be having only sh 1.8 million, then factor inflation etc and your cash will be enough only for beer only for one weekend. My advise is if you want be a "B-naire",get in touch with drug dealors like Sonko and you won't wait for 25 years!

@Forester, Its also a second language in Kenya, yet many people on this forum write fluent English. I am afraid I am not able to take anyone writing in such a broken way seriously, especially where money is concerned.

You pay half the fare, they fly you on half the plane....... or at a restaurant door, an advert goes 1/2price for a plate of food today... at service level, veve nalipa nusu, veve napata sahani nusu...

correction:

investing 15,000 per month or 180,000 per year at a return rate of 10% for 25 years will yield a total of ksh 19,472,717.80.

and it would take 65.3 years to realise ksh 1.0 billion investing exactly as above...d'oh! d'oh!

thanks matatamingi
