No water in cities. Millions jobless even graduates, actually only 2 million Kenyans in formal employment according to statistics. Impunity- if you are rich you can't go to jail. Crime out of control with gangs like Mungiki. Investors shying away as politicians prepare for Armageddon in 2012. Grand corruption scandals,no one is ever jailed. Just what the hell is going on in Kenya?

I was driving along Langata Rd last fri at about 9.30pm when thugs started shooting aimlessley near the Nbi West Roundabout. People started running away while others just lay down on the floor. Aparently it was a car jacking attempt on a Prado. When all was clear,I came out of my hiding and people were saying the thugs were just baby faced teenagers in baggy jeans. I was really scared and instead of going out clubbin' just turned back and went straight home. I'm still shaken to say the least.

Looks like our police have given up on criminals and are instead concentrating on making through money thru corruption since they are so poorly paid. Something has to be done, otherwise Nairobi will become like Jo'burg and even organizations like UNEP may end up relocating.

Are we Kenyans living in denial (as always) that this could be a failed state????????????

@ Jaribu,

I will join you on this though we had a similar post in the past.

Kenya is a failed state designate. Water shortage,Looming power rationing,Inept civil servants, corrupt police, mad drivers on the road, unfaithful men and women, executions in hospitals........the list is endless. Look at our institutions for instance, they are supposed to serve us better but try seking for a service which they are supposed to render. You will just be disappointed. I tried calling KAA this morning on an experimental basis but to say the least they were of no assistance,in fact they hanged up on me. Is there a condition that i have to know someone there??? What about a village man who has travelled 200 Kms to look for a service in a governemt institution? It is a pity!! Anyway lets save that for another day. But who will save us fellow skerians? Desite all this there is a ray of hope, someone somewhere has to rise up and say NO to this madness. People of good standing lets remain steadfast in our quest to have a good kenya.
