Thinking of investing in Sugar Cane farming (for Surgar production) and just wondering if there is anyone in the house with advise on the same. Advise so far received seem to indicate that it is not too dependent on the weather performance but requires someone prepared to invest in medium-long term with a cycle of say 4 years which I thought is of interest to me.

Any advise as to the Land Lease rates, the land prep, input cost required, the planting(seedlings),the weeding and how many time, harvesting and related costs, production yield (range),producer prices say per tonnes or so. Do I need to be contracted by the factory in order to get started or can I engage in it though uncontracted. Any advise will be highly appreciated. thx

@chemos,I am looking at the Sugar cane for sugar production, the Mumias type. Thank you for redirecting me to clarify. Am seeking for advise that can get me started on this venture. Especially with the sugar shortage and the capacity that exists. Though those comesa protections are expiring, the global prices and consumption will continue going up. I feel, there are growth prospects in this area.
