Prior to 2007 elections, my broker tipped me on a possible sell-off enmasse by foreign investors at the Nbi stock market. There were tell-tale signs that rigging was eminent on both sides of the divide, tension was building etc. Foreign investors had placed orders to sell at the first sign of trouble. I dilly dallied as I focused on the KICC saga. By the time I awakened, the market had lost 12% across the board. I went on a selling frenzy and in early 2009, started buying the shares at low low prices. The only shares I never sold were those I bought in mid and late 90s. They are my security in old age and will most like never go below purchasing price in the future. My appeal here is for anyone who comes across genuine evidence that we are heading into a serious crisis to let us know, debate the same and bolt to safer havens till things cool down. Am talking about evidence that Eqypt does not want Sudan to separate into two due to Nile water issues and would take any extreme measure to foil the Jan 9, 2011 referendum in order to delay the same by six years. Mpigs have refused to see reason to move the constitution implementation. An snap election will derail things. Ruto, Uhuru and others may be having serious antics up their sleeves. So, we cannot rule out tensions around the country when Ocampo finally summons the murderers. What if Raila is summoned, will the same scenario arise compared to Ruto’s or Uhuru’s summons. What if Kibaki is summoned? Will wikileaks cause leaks in the NSE if it causes the coalition government to function erratically? My only concern would be if Raila & Uhuru are among the Hague Six. Raila - Luos support him almost to a man. Even when he makes stupid comments then flip-flops. His followers are idiots who will uproot the railway or even destroy their own town. Then cry. Uhuru - The cash-flush kikuyu elite (not necessarily the kawaida wananchi) see him as the next best hope as prezzie in 2017 or 2022. He was/is connected to the mungiki. kalonzo - I would be happy to see in the Hague Six but I doubt he is on the list. Ruto - He has been neutralized. Yes, there will be some chaos but the army can take care of his supporters as long as it is localized in RV [not in combination with Nyanza or Central] Greedy when others are fearful. I agree with Sober, this is sulphuric acid. Forget about Ruto-Uhuru, as long as some human persons are not on that list it will be invalid and nobody goes anywhere. I think Ocampo has fallen in Love with Kenya just as Koffi Annan has. Sudan is very complex and we are staring at a full blown war if our brothers in the south are not given their right to self determination. Kumbukeni they have ammunition to defend the south and any instability is a chance to capture Bashir and take to him to have lunch with Ocampo. I think that is why EABL has adopted a wait and see altitude and will only set up a brewery there after the conclusion of the referendum! I am not prophet Owuor§ We not out of the woods yet. Good questions certainly particularly on the issue of MPs sleeping on their job as far as implementation of the new constitution is concerned and hence the talk of premature election. Then there is the issue of Ocampo...... IMHO, all these offer great buying opportunities as these uncertainties will definitely affect the market in one way or another. In short there is money to be made in the ups n downs expected, not just here in Kenya but around the globe, what with tension between N.Korea n S.Korea, China Taiwan, religious intolerance and so forth. Also to note, there will never be a time when "things will cool down", uncertainties are here to stay! Cash is King, so have it with you always to take advantage of a very uncertain world! @SufficientlyP

As a person coming from the Lakeside, I beg to disagree with your statement above.....Things are not always what they seem. The rich have money working for them; the poor and the middle class are going to work for money.

I will be extremely happy if Ocampo finally succeeds in the trial process. This is what will finally kill impunity and guarantee future peaceful elections. We may experience some turbulence but the long term benefits will be reduced political risk. Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Thanks @Surealligator , I believe the most important thing is to share knowledge, though I have no immediate plans to write a book. Important thing is that we as black africans should be aware that we can actually invest in foreign stock markets and make reasonable profits in strong currencies. Besides it is not very ideal these days to build your investment in only one economy or one country. Every Economy is fragile either political or economic. Africa has more of political problems, but recently there has been serious economic problems in Europe and America. There is no immediate end in sight. If Kenya boils again in 2012 the impact on me will be minimal because I have less than 15% of my investment in NSE. But I pray against that for the interest of my colleagues here and the good people of Kenya whose livelihood and investment is only in Kenya and Nairobi bourse. God will not allow a repeat of 2008 !!! We should not forget that when Kenya sneezes the whole of East Africa catches cold. Ugand/Tanzania/Rwanda/Burundi economies are dependent on Kenya. Petroleum supply for now is still from Mombassa etc etc. Best Regards Young Nigeria The wazua spirit as members is to educate and inform and learn from others within the limit of what we know in any chosen area irrespective of our differences in tribes, nationalities, etc. .

December 4, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Last year Sudan’s northern neighbor, Egypt, lobbied to the United States to postpone southern Sudan’s self determination referendum by four to six years as it feared that the new nation could put its share of the Nile’s water in jeopardy according to a leaked US diplomatic cable. http://www.sudantribune....ed-for-south-Sudan,37159Go overdrive in purchasing the goods when there's blood on the streets, expecially if the blood is your own

The day after tomorrowMarch 2011, Man of the Snuff has refused to endorse piggery's wish for Kenya to pull out of the Rome statute trap. Mpigs are up in arms against the Exec. Gov Bills are not getting support. May 2011, Snuff-man pulls out of Coal. Cslls a snap election, Looto, Kalamazoo and Snuff-man's favourite baby take over government. Status quo is maintained, impunity prevails. What is the worst that can befell NSE at such a scenario? My preference, given an option is to see Ocampo six go to the hague for the sake of posterity and to end impunity in this county. By yesterdays Rende ruling, it is obvious who the guys behind the MK nominations are. The Treasure Keeper (TK) led a huge gang of Mpigs for a press conference denouncing Rende's ruling. TK, either by design or default showed he had a lot to lose if the nominations did not go through. For the first time, he is leading from the front, evidence that he is the financier of the Return to the Local Tribunal project. Impunity fights back very hard. The mission must go on. Probably a vote of no confidence in the speaker will surface but raising the 2 thirds might be a daunting task. If what the helicopter pharmacist said is true, the government might now start using its muscle to have it's way. At the stock market, we need to be afraid, very afraid.
