DPP Noordin Haji wants a bench of more than one judge to rule whether he was right to charge DCJ Philomena Mwilu.

He wants the bench to determine if a decision to prosecute a judge can be faulted on account of political pronouncements made by politicians that have no connection to the subject matter of the criminal proceedings.

In a certificate of urgency filed at the Milimani law courts, Haji says Mwilu’s petition raises substantial
questions of law that are of public importance that merit certification for hearing by uneven number judge. Justice Chacha Mwita was tasked to refer the file to CJ David Maraga for him to empanel a bench of preferably five judges.

On Friday, Mwita directed that the matter be mentioned on October 9 and not earlier as requested by the DPP.

The High Court suspended Mwilu’s prosecution over fraud. Haji says the case has to be heard by a bench rather than one judge.

He wants the bench to establish whether criminal charges can be preferred against the DCJ. He also seeks clarification on whether his office can institute criminal proceedings where the Judicial Service Commission has taken no action against a sitting judge despite knowledge and information about the criminal conduct of the judge.

Seems like the DPP is out to expose something

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) is holding 984,102 bags of maize worth nearly Sh3.1 billion that is unfit for human consumption in the wake of a scandal that saw the agency pay fake farmers billions of shillings.

A report, acting NCPB managing director Joseph Liguko tabled in Parliament shows that 1,551,027 bags of maize purchased at Moi’s Bridge silo and 220,358 bags bought at Kisumu silos were moulding with high heat and insect damage.

The moulding could see the maize get infected by the deadly aflatoxin, which is linked to liver cancer.

The board is supposed to buy maize from farmers but went ahead to buy the grains from traders who acquired the commodity in Uganda.

The suspected interference of the weighbridges used to detect the number of kilos brought in by traders at the NCPB depots may also have led the government into declaring the quantity of maize that it does not have.

This maize maneno is the biggest scandal ever and will finish this country since the multi-billion scam is repeated each year.

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) could lose Sh8.5 billion worth of maize in its strategic food reserve (SFR) that is already yellowing and browning in the silos less than one year after it was bought from farmers.

Mr Sang told the committee chaired by Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar that the NCPB requires funds to upgrade its silos and keep maize for more than six months. “We have advised them (SFR) to sell the maize in Kisumu because there is market there. Unfortunately it cannot be sold at Sh3,200 as it was bought because market price has dropped to between Sh1,500 to Sh2,000,” he said.

Mr Sang said the 3,626,973 bags of maize in the SFR on April 18, 2018 included 300,000 bags of maize that was imported from Mexico in the last crop season.

A total of 10.5 million bags of maize were imported from Mexico during the duty free maize importation window between May and December 2017.

Mr Sang said NCPB has so far paid farmers Sh8,053,320,000 leaving Sh3,575,854,400 as pending bills of which Sh1.4 billion will be paid as soon as the multi-agency team working on the issue identifies the real farmers.

“Some of the maize we have in our silos has stayed for more than the recommended period of six months. The maize we are holding is about nine months old but is becoming yellowish and brownish, making it unattractive to millers who may not buy it,” Mr Sang told an ad-hoc committee.

Guys, let's stop dreaming. None of the so called "big fish" are going anywhere. This was a public PR campaign towards increasing taxes. Now that the taxes are up, the status quo can return.

These were simple cases with facts and clear paper trail. Sonko has produced enough evidence for Kidero to get 10 consecutive life sentences. Minji minji's hairdresser withdrew sacks of stollen money and the biggest debate is on how they met and whether they knew each other as they both roam free???

BBI will solve it

Kidero's case is still in court as we've preached here the most corrupt institution in Kenya remains to be the Judiciary followed by the Police. Let's wait to see how Maraga deals with his vice.

Minji aliwekelewa na watu fulani camp ya hustler. That case is still in court, why is it taking too long?

I sympathize with Maraga and Wabukala. I'm not sure about Haji and Kinoti yet but I know the first two are genuine and not above cheap politics.
You are right, judiciary is the engine that powers corruption in Kenya.

The Internationale – The Socialist Anthem
Stand up, damned of the Earth
Stand up, prisoners of starvation
Reason thunders in its volcano
This is the eruption of the end.
Of the past let us make a clean slate
Enslaved masses, stand up, stand up.
The world is about to change its foundation
We are nothing, let us be all.

Chorus
This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race.

There are no supreme saviours
Neither God, nor Caesar, nor tribune.
Producers, let us save ourselves,
Decree the common salvation.
So that the thief expires,
So that the spirit be pulled from its prison,
Let us fan our forge ourselves
Strike the iron while it is hot.

Chorus

The State oppresses and the law cheats.
Tax bleeds the unfortunate.
No duty is imposed on the rich;
The rights of the poor is an empty phrase.
Enough languishing in custody!
Equality wants other laws:
No rights without duties, she says,
Equally, no duties without rights.
....He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji has revoked the appointment of over 100 prosecutors in what is seen as a cleanup exercise in his office.

Through a Kenya Gazette , the officers who have been fired include prosecutors who deal with cases of standards of goods brought into the country, counterfeit goods, wildlife conservation and copyright. The office of the DPP has for long been accused of bungling cases as prosecutors were compromised by suspects before to defeat the course of justice.

Kwani what does "has revoked the appointment of" mean? Doesn't the statement refer to new employees?

KPLC In Court:

Kenya Power awarded tenders to some companies which did not bid, an audit manager told the anti-graft court yesterday.
