The GoK can pay teachers if they want to. Kshs 17b is nothing. The fear right now is all the other civil servants will rise up and demand pay rise. That will be catastrophic to the economy. U.K needs to come up with a plan to raise their pay gradually (not the huge %s they are demanding) without causing uprising to the rest of the servants. i.am.back!!!!

Pay teachers what is legally theirs. Full stop. Out of the 17 billions. 6 billion will directly go back to treasury thro 30% paye. The old man Kaimenyi, old women nzomo and Nancy of tsc are misleading the president. They just don't care may be cos their children wako majuu or have opportunities majuu or are past school age. Obviously the government is fighting a losing battle as teachers have tyranny of numbers, this time the tribal card cannot work as there are teachers from all tribes in Kenya including uhurus rutos and kaimenyis The next fart could be sacking teachers and asking them to reapply. Dig on mr government punda amecheka

Dear Son of Kenyatta,
1.You promised our kids laptops. Not only has this project failed, but you are denying kenyan kids the right to education as well. What crime have they committed? Do they pay taxes?
2. Boarding schools especially budget for school terms well in advance by buying food in bulk. Please do tell where ALL the food lying in school stores bought by parent's school fees will go to.
3. So our kids will stay at home throughout 3rd term? Will they also repeat classes next year? No schooling means no studies,no exams or promotion to next class. What is your plan? Study in Dec to make up for lost term or disorganize the entire 2015 school calendar?Do you really care?
4. Most parents take loans to pay school fees. Please tell us, is it fair to continue servicing bank loans for school fees plus interest, whose purpose is lost?
5.Are parents entitled to refunds for fees? My guess is no because it's all goverments fault.Suppliers of schools services must/have been paid.
5. So teachers are on strike, school workers stay at home with no income whatsoever,so how does that improve our economy? You want them to steal?
6. What will millions of school kids be doing at home all this time when their agemates across the world are studying? Sex/TV/Drugs/Parties/Child labour/kuchapwa na DM.Its 3rd term rem. Is this part of vision 2030? producing hooligans?
7. And before I forget,Brookside milk is drank in many schools across the country, so rest knowing that it's a loss to you too and a farmer somewhere is crying and cursing from top of mt.ihururu.
8. I heard a chairman of a schools association complain about PTA teachers and their pay. Don't know how it works but this strike has hit bad.
9. I was reminded today by a ugandan that a similar strike caused mass exodus of Kenyan kids to schools in Uganda. Please I beg,Stop cheapening/diluting our education system. We are losing face as Kenyans.
10.. The epilogue- WE PAY TAXES. We pay to learn and serve in Kenya. It's our right to demand please act accordingly. Naomba kwa niaba ya wazazi, sinyakali irudi back to the drawing board and put their selfish interests aside. If not God will force us to.Don't wait for his hand to act.
Yours frustrated citizen,
Mzazi for education.

The salaries teachers are demanding is unsustainable. The effect on economy long term will be catastrophic. Uhuru shouldn't negotiate. Kenyan teachers are among the best paid in the world comparatively. I suggest suspend third term and sack all striking teachers. Re-employ again under new terms and conditions. work to prosper

2. Boarding schools especially budget for school terms well in advance by buying food in bulk. Please do tell where ALL the food lying in school stores bought by parent's school fees will go to. Do they buy perishable food at the beginning of the term...mbosho, na maize can last to next year
3. So our kids will stay at home throughout 3rd term? Will they also repeat classes next year? No schooling means no studies,no exams or promotion to next class. What is your plan? Study in Dec to make up for lost term or disorganize the entire 2015 school calendar?Do you really care? You have not been told your child will remain at home till the end of the year. Go read that memo again after you've cooled off your nerves
4. Most parents take loans to pay school fees. Please tell us, is it fair to continue servicing bank loans for school fees plus interest, whose purpose is lost? Again, from the memo, the issue of fees has been addressed
5.Are parents entitled to refunds for fees? My guess is no because it's all goverments fault.Suppliers of schools services must/have been paid. Again, from the memo, the issue of fees has been addressed
5. So teachers are on strike, school workers stay at home with no income whatsoever,so how does that improve our economy? You want them to steal? The cook, watchman etc is cooking for class 8 and form 4 students, they are still at work
6. What will millions of school kids be doing at home all this time when their agemates across the world are studying? Sex/TV/Drugs/Parties/Child labour/kuchapwa na DM.Its 3rd term rem. Is this part of vision 2030? producing hooligans? It is not the work of the teacher to keep your child from all those vices you've mentioned there. Get involved in educating your child. In other parts of the world, homeschooling is the in-thing
7. And before I forget,Brookside milk is drank in many schools across the country, so rest knowing that it's a loss to you too and a farmer somewhere is crying and cursing from top of mt.ihururu. Those students who drink milk at sch can also drink it at home, in larger quantities...they are not dead are they?
8. I heard a chairman of a schools association complain about PTA teachers and their pay. Don't know how it works but this strike has hit bad. PTA teachers are paid by the BOG. The decision of whether or how much they are to be paid lies with that board
9. I was reminded today by a ugandan that a similar strike caused mass exodus of Kenyan kids to schools in Uganda. Please I beg,Stop cheapening/diluting our education system. We are losing face as Kenyans. Teachers in Kenya are paid waaay better than those in Uganda or if you like Tanzania. Paying a teacher does not make the education system more "expensive" or superior, if you want quality education, you should be pushing for performance contracts from these teachers who want pay but no evaluation
10.. The epilogue- WE PAY TAXES. We pay to learn and serve in Kenya. It's our right to demand please act accordingly. About 40% of the adult Kenyan pays taxes, half of those pay a negligible amount that cannot even pay one teachers salary in a year. Half of the other half is protected somehow by the tax code. The rest 60% are dependents of the system. Corporations don't care much about the salaries, to them the taxes they emit should go towards providing the infrastructure that will enhance their growth Naomba kwa niaba ya wazazi, sinyakali irudi back to the drawing board and put their selfish interests aside. If not God will force us to.Don't wait for his hand to act. The money is simply not there. Maybe you should be asking yourself how much more in taxes are you willing to folk out.
Yours frustrated citizen,
Mzazi for education.

The next fart could be sacking teachers and asking them to reapply. Dig on mr government Check again. That would not be entirely true if the salaries dont hit the 30% taxation band

That would not be entirely true if the salaries dont hit the 30% taxation band Okay to be precise above 20% which is well over 4 billion since a good number earn over the ksh 38000 threshold even now . Why pay the useless mcas 100s of 1000s and pay teachers pennies? There is money for looting yet no money for teachers. And now we rope in private schools in the mess? Not even forgetting the order from 'korti bandia' And expats have said we can afford mobile.nation.co.ke/news/Experts-say-state-can-raise-Sh17bn-to-pay/-/1950946/2876602/-/format/xhtml/-/wpcnmw/-/index.html punda amecheka
