The govt owns about 306,000,000 in Mumias. The share drop from sh 25 to 1.40 amounts approximately 7.2Billion loss. Add that to unemployment that this firm would create in Western Kenya were it to close its doors.
The Government should be get their act together in respect to this firm. Otherwise it will cost them a lot of reputation should to remain its death bed.

IMHO. MSC could easily fall with no big impact. MSC is in western. Most of the collapsing factories are in western & Nyanza. Western leaders are NEVER united thus can't martial a collective bargaining power. Nyanza ppl always in opposition and don't address actual issues. A sitting president knows there's no guarantee of majority votes. Votes from here are negligible. Very few or no factories have collapsed in central,North Rift & other regions. In other regions leaders are united when it comes to defending their economic backbones e.g miraa,coffee. Given panpaper,miwani,chemilil,muhoroni,many coffee factories e.t.c from western &Nyanza and no significant impact was seen,any other like MSC can. People from here don't care to collective bargaining power & economy but individual selfishness. Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!

Mumias will never fall. President Uhuru may be on the way to visit this industry and know the cause of its problems and the course that will be taken to bring it back to its feet
The is the backbone of many families young and old. We cannot sit and assume cheap sugar will come our way once our industries die, it will be the worst mistake we will have to learn as prices will shoot once importers are aware we do not produce and demand goes high.
If Mobius is mass produced and many families afford it even other vehicles will have their prices down.

For an industrialist investing this year is not as difficult as in those years the said firms collapsed. Furthermore we now have increased demand for products, reduced power, cheaper labour - yes there are more jobless graduates at all levels willing to work for almost free.

An almost 10% rise for Mumias on a daily basis could still propel its price back to good news. The closure for maintenance will have effect on machines and labour,plus flushing those who we do not need as they are just pests. Most of the firm managers may be marged removing one or two senior positions and the bulk of employees these managers bring some through nepotism. Its time to reposition and the President should get involved.
