The most important skill for a Governor is the Emotional Inteligence to provide leadership and employ human resource to manage the city. The ability to work with others and not see oneself as a demi-god who knows it all is what will enable a prosperous Nairobi. As Dunning-Kruger effect shows, most people who feel they know it all usually have the least idea.

Political equivalents:

Kidero - Kibaki (elitist, capitalist, good for the big boys, solid academic background)

Waititu - Raila (populist, socialist, down to earth, in touch/resonates with ordinary mwananchi, contentious academic background)

98% from me for this analysis (-2% because they are not only good for big boys but the economy)

Emotions aside........

We are seeking to employ a CEO for nairobi what qualifications should you consider. think of Nairobi as a blue chip company worth billions.

Make it personal: Imagine yourself in the board of Safcom, EABL and you are hiring a CEO.

I can do with arrogance but not ignorance............ my 2 cents

Emotions aside......

Human beings should be considered the highest possible resource and their well being, the governors greatest burden.

Who is best suited to understand and deliver value to that human being mtaani?

Safcom, EABL etc do not deal in human beings. Value to shareholders is not equal to value to the poor.

An arrogant person who is ignorant/indifferent of the issues of the poor is the worst possible scenario.

@Mtubiz

I think we are saying the same thing in this case replace shareholders with Nairobians.

We are looking for someone who can manage billions that will be allocated to Nairobi to create value to the shareholder.

As investors we are trying to figure out if YT2 was on the NSE trading floor launching a municipal bond to develop the housing projects like Jimnah wanted to do whether we can even touch it with a ten foot pole

1.A Performer not a talker
2.Results oriented CEO.

This city has enough boardroom talkers but very few performers.
Performers are on the ground getting a first hand experience of issues affecting the people.
Well I yearn to see action and if it comes by stone throwing then let it be! Stones I will throw and throw hard!!
I find you grabbing land, and you think you can buy your way out? I will look for a quarry and mobilise youths to get ready.
We focus too much on foreign investors. How about encouraging local investment first? Empower the citizens and make conditions favourable for them to invest first not foreigners.Let them find us at work so they can partner with us.
Kidero had better prioritise well.

By the way is there anything worth writing home about that Waititu has done in his constituency development wise? Maybe we can gauge his ability to deliver on what he has already done. Remember our believe that PK can deliver is based on what he has done in Gatanga. So Embakasi dwellers, please enlighten us. Has he done anything worth mentioning? Was his service period just about throwing stones or he has used the CDF to change people's lives positively?

We need to realise that Yt2 was throwing stones to protect nairobi's public land from grabbers. Which is a very noble thing. No other nairobi politician has ever stood up against land grabbers like yt2.

Regarding CDF management Embakasi has been ranked no. 5 country wide, and the best in Nairobi, better than Gumo, Raila, Sonko, Wanjiro etc constituencies.

What I can remember from yesterday's debate:

Waititu: toilets, water, land, light, roads, schools
Kidero: Singapore, GDP, Strategic management,78 %,..

Did Waititu say how he was going to attend to the issues of toilet, water, land, light, roads, schools etc? Didn't watch the interview so would be interesting to know how he intends to go about it coz it seems from posts here that he provided convincing details on how he would address those issues.

And @washiku don't you think those things like strategic management that you seem to dismiss are what need to be attended to in order to address the issues that you seem to credit to Waititu?

On the other hand what are the 5 most important issues that Nairobians would want addressed by their county govt?

1. water
2. security
3. garbage
4. sewerage
5. roads/potholes kwa estates/drainage

These are the burning issues affecting Nairobians from Karen to buru buru to kibera. And thats what yt2 talked about. Generally Nairobians have similar problems despite where they live.

By talk do you mean giving convincing specifics on how he would handle them or merely saying that he would? Missed the interview so would be interesting to know about his ideas on handling these issues and how practical they are.
