The only difference between mutunga and the holier than thou 'moralists' (is there a word like that?) is that his skeletons are out in the open unlike ALL of us who have skeletons hidden and tucked away in deep dark corners.
Tell me how many people here can be atheists, devilworshippers, frequent visitors of the village witch, but all hide in the church as pastors, elders, e.t.c? So this thing that he should believe in God to do his job does not fly. It is HIS choice.Has speaking to his ancestors affected his quality of work? I dont know (I am assuming not) but he was declared the best candidate for the job so all we can do is give him a chance.

Dash, dash, dash, there is one further difference. He wants to be their CJ and will take serious decisions which will affect them. This warrants some scrutiny.

i am afraid that the studs issue will erode the dressing and presentability of judges, magistrates and lawyers and the society at large. soon we will have lawyers go to court in dreadlocks, our sons will soon go to school in studs all in the name of constitution, yet to mutunga it means something else. to me studs NO.

And so the transition from colonial regalia begins.

Wonder how permissive it will get.

Willy spent his life criticizing government and prescribing solutions but now he has found his way into the kitchen he realizes it is hotter than he thought the contests for and contestations of power are intricate and dynamic. I suspect he might have tasted the cookie in the jar and that gives the hyenas a legitimacy to fight him because he is not playing ball yet he is one of them. He therefore finds himself a man besieged by the reality he allowed to infect him and his reformist credentials. he has become a Jekyll and Hyde and the two personalities are struggling for his soul, I hope they don't tear him apart
