I've always supported the selecao since USA 94'. In 1990 I supported Germany because of Pierre Littbarski and Lothar Matthaus but then Romario made me fall in love with Brazilian football.

ION, I really feel for players who get injured just before the WC after having a stellar club season...

You really have to question the need for some of these warm up matches before the WC. Mexican Luis Montes (even Castilla of Equador who broke his leg suffered torn knee ligaments) Ghana's Aakaminko and Italy's Montolivo all suffered varying degrees or horrendous leg/ankle breaks/fractures. The Ghanaian slipped and fell awkwardly in the last minute of added time in the warm up against Netherlands. Such a pity!

Jameni.....the way the groupings are makes it very difficult for Mama Africa to be in last 4. I expect Brazil to go all the way to finals..home advantage. Other teams I hope that make to final 4(5) - Germany, France, Argentina & cote d'ivoire (I think that's the only group we have a chance)

anyway interesting times ahead.

The WC never lacks surprises

Like minnows Senegal beating defending Champions France in 2002 opening match. These things happen

Not this world cup...

I still hope Black Stars can beat both USA and Portugal

possible

As for African teams, I think they are against some tough teams, especially Ghana. For an African team, my money is on Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast lost 1-2 to Bosnia, repeat, Bosnia. This means that either Bosnia is good, or Ivory Coast is weaker. I would like to think that Ivory Coast is weaker. Yes, of all African teams, they have the best chance of going to 16's, but they got defeated by Bosnia, so we wait and see.

Netherlands beat Ghana 1-0 Not bad for Ghana, considering that Netherlands are 2010 WC finalists.

It would take something like an extraordinary play for an Africa team to reach the semi's.

Bosnia are not as weak as you think, IMO i think they can be the dark house in Brazil. Dzeko, Ibisevic, Pjanic and Stoke keeper Begovic, are probably their most influential players but as a team they are quite difficult to breakdown. Btw they narrowly missed out on the 2010 WC in SA when the lost in the play-offs against Portugal.

The Netherlands squad is weaker than the team that went all the way to the finals in 2010.

You're right that Bosnia is actually a tough team. Had not paid attention to them. I just checked them out. Mexico beat Ecuador 3-1, then Bosnia beat Mexico 1-0.
They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.

Tough luck against Argentina, but this being football I wouldn't write off your prediction.

But this time Nigeria or Ivory Coast should ATLEAST take us to quarter finals.
