I understand the Diplomat son died. No ? Yes? As per the diplomatic staff norm, they do contribute when one of them is affected. What's so hard to understand ? or just the normal fuss

Si usome the apology above (which only came because this thing leakeed to the social media)

What if the letter dint leak...would all that money have been remitted to the family...

Yes it would have been remitted to the family because that os what it was meant for.I honestly see nothing wrong.

The thing that is wrong is to make the contributions compulsory and to dictate the amount of the contributions.

Those two points we are in agreement...though we do not know how they conduct their staff welfare activities.Am insisting on this bacause every org has its own way of dealing with this matters and yes we have people(mostly junior staff) who raise issues despite having read the welfare constitution and subscribed to it.

Question---If it was another envoy involved say Elikana or Wenwa would this have been an issue? Would the memo have been leaked?

If its another family involved not the Kenyattas, would this comments arise?

I stand to be counted on the side of Washiku that contributions are normally done when a colleague has an event i.e happy/sad.

Its not because the family is not able but rather a sign of solidarity and also as Mawinder puts it "a tradition"

Am sure even the company where the Watchies work there could be a list going round for the same.

For me, my only concern is quoting the amount. But then again I have no clue how their welfare works.

Unfortunately the same "siasa" going on here in Wazua is what I see in work places. When the big shot has an issue watu wanasema yeye ako na pesa so wanachanga ya nini. When a juniour has an issue they are all over with the list for contributions and wanting the boss to changa more than the rest.

Does sending a condolence card/message matter or just money?

Quote from DN..." The Foreign Affairs Ministry has clarified that the internal memo requesting for contributions towards the funeral of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew, Mr Mbugua Mwangi was sent to all missions and staff by mistake.

The Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Dr Karanja Kibicho in an e-mail to newsrooms said the communication was only meant for 25 senior staff at the Ministry who had voluntarily agreed to contribute." Another #error?Applause Applause Applause Applause
