A candidate winning in debate is like advert winning an award: we forget that ads are supposed to win customers, not awards. Candidates are supposed to win voters, no debates!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Debates can sway some voters, no?

My take, even though I expected the debate to deal with real issues they could not only tribalism and ICC.
It started funny right from introductions 30 seconds and oops people go haywire. Plus I expected some timer somewhere for us to see who spoke more and less since they had said they borrowed ideas from places like US. For those who watched I think Dida had double the time MDVD got.
I liked Uhuru on his reference to their manifesto, kind of think he knew what he was talking about.

Martha was like she is only praying that God help her to get some few kuras

I liked Kiyiapi on tribalism issues

Peter knows very much how to tackle the security issue and almost knew how to tackle education till he was brought down by Kiyiapi.

Raila was too much on the defensive but it was coz he was being attacked from all sides though it was justified

MaDVD actually did not hear him talk watching online from KTN streaming and there was this funny add lasting some 30 seconds which kept coming when he was about to talk but by the time it ended he was finished.

Muite was funny and Dida was the funniest

Lets be clear, winning a debate in kenya is not winning votes. For me Dida won and Karua was second, do they win my vote? Nope. My vote is UKs and the second debate will not change anything.

The Kenyan people won.

For the first time you stop listening to lazy journalists and listen to the candidates as they prove they have no idea what they are talking about.

Julie Gichuru is a horrible moderator. Thought she loved hearing herself speak. Ask the question, then shut up.

The usual suspects proved they did not know what they were going to do for the country. One fellow accepted he's only running coz of the ICC. The other fellow had no apologies to make for carrying his family members to official trips.

But wasn't Karua a breath of fresh air?
wasn't Dida just the realest human we had on that stage?
wasn't Muite loving talking about safina?

I didn't hear the other fellows talk to be honest.

So Kenyans won. Next time will be better and at long last we start moving our politics from individuals to issues that affect us.

I mean, I finally heard about education being an issue in Kenya from a lactating teacher.

The votes to be influenced will be too few.

By the way, Atsango Chesoni had the best summary of Kenyans.

Voting for your tribesman even when you KNOW that that man has done the worst crimes a human being can do.
