its amazing that after soo many years some of the patches of the tracks are still visible in L.view estate na langalanga ..unfortunately the big thing that side of Nakuru town is the "IN"-famous Kanu street that is almost twin like to Birongo square in Nairobi west

there was this guy on news yesterday talking about insecurity in nairobi and his solution was to build more gated communities like nyayo estate. If only we can think thoughts that benefit the larger community then we can solve most of our problems

Even building a wall around the entire Nairobi will not solve insecurity issues.

You must be referring to something totally different, I grew up in Nakuru specifically Langa, the go cart track used to be at the present day race course estate (note the similarity in names).

The racing there was obviously before my time but I remember we used the tracks to learn to cycle and people also used them to learn driving. The track was dismantled by a Japanese company called Konoike who set up access roads, piping and sewerage for racecourse estate.

Simple googling shows .....Langalanga, from a Maasai word loosely translated to mean going around and around.

@Wanyee,
Well done.At least this will thoroughly inform Obi!.....even though i beg to differ with the blogger on the meaning of the word Langa Langa.To the best of my knowledge,the name was coined by the Maa and is a meeting point of many foot paths....I may be wrong.The original Langa Langa was a dirt track in a mzungu's farm.....i can only remember him by one name one name .He was a Mr. scholes.......I hope i'll get the other name when my Monday clearssmile

@Wendz/Digital/Obi/Muchr,

The photos here look like they are atleast in the 60's, 24 years ago (1988-9)Racecourse was long gone.

The track is where Race course estate is not langalanga, I remember the "grabbing" of the tracks was done in a very professional waysmile smile , first the council laid out the infrastructure including subdividing the plots (1/4 acre) access roads (tarmac), sewarage system, electricty including street lighting and left space amenities like shopping area (Zackayo's) and a school before they started selling the plots.

Now that should tell you how far back we have regressed as a nation.
