The Germans would not faired any better.Thier style of play is slow and cannot match the Spaniard's sleek passing game...Let's hail the Kings!Applause

Common McDoba. The same Germans were comprehesively thumped by the Italians. The Italians deserved to be in the finals. As for the Spanish I can only say bravo. That was a masterclass. Finally they delivered what the world has been begging from them from the begginning of this tournament. They played tika taka but with purposefull forwad runs not the kind of sleep inducing borefest they delivered in the semi and quarter finals.

Applause Applause Applause Hail the Kings!!
Quote:

Alan Shearer
"People have asked questions of Spain because of their system of not playing a recognised striker, wondering if they would score enough goals.
"But they have scored more goals and conceded less than any other team. It was a dream to watch and a nightmare to play against because there are no answers.
"As soon as Italy went down to 10 men, you could see Fernando Torres was itching to get on because he knew there would be chances.
"In a strange way it has probably been a frustrating tournament for him because he has only played a bit-part. But when he's been asked to do a job he's scored goals and played well."
What they said about Spain's victory:

"Today I have been decisive. I was lacking that deep, incisive pass, and today I had two." - Spain midfielder Xavi
"Are we boring? People who think we play boring, I don't think they understand the game." - Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas
"To win three titles is almost impossible. Congratulations to the players. I didn't really want to be the coach who wins but the coach who educates. I want to keep preparing them for the future." - Spain coach Vicente del Bosque
"Tonight, there was no contest, they were too superior - so the bitterness at losing this final is only relative. It was a great adventure." - Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon
"We have to savour this victory. It's unique, it's magical; something that can't be repeated. I think we still haven't absorbed how great this is." - Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta
"We came up against a terrific side. They're world champions. Obviously, when you go down to 10 men, the game's over." - Italy coach Cesare Prandelli

The Spanish Armada overrun the Italians in a very much one sided affair except for the 20 or so odd minutes in the first half when the Italians were taking the game to Spain after conceding the first goal. The manner in which it was conceded was an indictment to Prandelli's tactics - hes hould never have started Chiellieni in the first place if he wasn't fully recovered from the hamstring - Cesc beat him for pace so easily. The unplanned substitution also disrupted the Italians and Thiago Motta's was the last straw. How different the game might have been if Di Natale had taken his open header chance just after the restart from the half time break. What was expected to be a close affair eventually turned to be one of the most one sided final, scoreline wise, in history.

The Spanish look set to dominate world football for a few yeasr considering the youth talent coming up through the ranks. Jordi Alba showcased why he was so much sought after by Barca and 14M pounds is peanuts for that talent, Valencia really need to find a way of nurturing the talent they bring up - Mata, Silva, Villa, Jordi and maybe Soldado in future all taken up by other teams!

Italians should be proud of reaching a final many never thought they would at the start of the tourna, and beating the Germans to do it no less. There's no shame in being beaten by the best team in the world, scoreline notwithstanding

Who ever thought Barca would get a direct replacement for Alvez who looks better going forward but is still solid at the back???

Spain's Team B would start in most first XI's of many countries. That someone like Lliorente did not get a minute of football is testament to that fact!
