imagine the cbk head of Egypt or Israel saying they are waiting for the rain to ease inflation, of all the instruments he has to contain inflation he is counting on the rain, that's pretty dumb. we might as well go back to living in the stone age and appoint a rainmaker as the next cbk governor.

the slide should continue today!!! Asian setting the pace. No jobs added in the US for August, Italy is looking too big to bail and the political pace setters in Kenya are having their day in court as headline inflation hits 16.7%. NSE down we go! I honestly feel sorry for any Britak investor...

It is advisable for market players to 1st understand how the macro-economy of the country they live/invest in works, OTW ignorance is death.

Data of NOTE:
- The pace of food inflation declined for the first time this year in August as a result of decline in prices of staples such as maize
- Power rationing slated to end this month.
-All eyes are now on the weather department prediction for the October-November short rains season which could well spark a turnaround in the economy and the market if the prognosis is good.

Like CDE, does seem hope springs eternal that inflation could be checked in 4Q 2011.

@ecstacy.that's what i'm talking about. We have to have a clear understanding of our oppurtunities and challenges at any given time. The current maize harvesting in Western & Rift will peak in Sept/Oct as the expected rains take care of the next planting season especially in Eastern & the Coastal regions which also boosts hydro but due to increased power demand we'll still run thermal. However, a Western World slowdown/recessation will see crude prices drop going forward.

the last time I heard this kind of talk was in 1997, el nino came, recession came.

By the way these are the same guys who came up with a stimulus package for the economy that consisted of building fish ponds and young people cutting grass.

I miss David Mwiraria, that's a man who understood the economy

Let's expect that the full time employees a.k.a Cabinet Secretaries (formerly Ministers cum Mpigs) will execute the country's agenda more objectively and we can realize Vision 2030 by 2025 Laughing out loudly
