KQ will be facing serious compe with this news. Rink Not fact. It is a flight to UAE then connection to Dulles. BASA can't allow one country's airline to serve two different countries - unless the designated airline (KQ) gives permission.

KQ will be facing serious compe with this news. Rink Not true.....Only a US or Kenyan carrier can fly direct to USA from Kenya. Emirates can only tranfer pax at their dubai hub to join their flight to Newyork or dc just as KQ will transfer their us bound pax at London or AMS via their skyteam partners Northwest, Delta and KLM.Emirates from dubai does not fly to every single us city and thats why most would prefer KQ since the direct connections in Europe are many to smaller us cities than at DXB. KQ single biggest threat is middle eastern carriers flying low fares Etihad,QATAR,Emirates,Gulfair and the others flying direct to african capitals where otherwise most people would connct on KQ to their destination via its Nairobi Hub.

There is a difference btn nonstop flights, connecting flights and direct flights. So far,..we have no nonstop flights to the US and there were no direct flights to the US and thus Emirates will be the first, what we have had were connecting flights. (What u described is a connecting flight) Its important to understand that direct flights, unlike nonstop flights, may include a stop over in a hub, but there will be no change of flight number. Meaning that the same plane may pick up passengers in dubai or stop just for routine purposes. "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. One way or other, bad news for KQ as Emirates can fly Kenyan peeps to DC A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work
