You could also add the point that Africa happened to experience one of the worst economic decades smack in the middle of Moi's rule. But why let facts get in the way of a politically useful demagogic narrative? This chip-on-the shoulder style of manipulation is not a Kenyan invention though. It just happens to work better in a tribal, power distance society where many of us are quite happy to let our leaders do most of the thinking for us.
