Against the expectations of many, we shoulder to shoulder as a nation and peacefully elected our 4th president. Despite incredible challenges, the Electoral Commission, Kenya Police and local media houses did a phenomenal job in midwifing the process. And not to be left out are the great people of Kenya who in every county broke turnout records (85%!) and spent long hours in the hot sun to exercise their democratic right. And then held together through a week of uncertainty as the slugfest went all the way to the wire.

The simultaneous loud jubilation and quiet mourning in our nation this morning are symptoms of our deeply divided feelings about the outcome. We may have crossed the Jordan of peaceful elections but it's only the first step. There are still the giants of injustice, the fortifications of disunity and the walled cities of corruption that we must tackle TOGETHER.

For the 50.3% who voted for Uhuru Kenyatta, this is not the time to gloat or entrench divisions, but instead a time to be sensitive and gracious. For the 49.7% who didn't, this is not the time to give in to despair and negativity but an opportunity to hold on to the fact that even in times of great disappointment and perhaps even legitimate fears, the God of all creation (whom all Kenyans acknowledge in our anthem) is STILL in control!

Congrats UK, you won it finally!

The tribes have spoken, and I have just two requests:

1. You are the President of all Kenyans, not just the tribes that voted for you. Please be considerate in appointments and show inclusion. A gracious winner is a class above the rest. Your predecessor polarized this country, please try to heal it.

2. I beg you, please don't appoint losers/rejects of the people. I know junk like Balala, Ongeri and Chality must be salivating but respect their people who rejected them. We dumped them because their time had come.

Enjoy your 5 years, and make those of us who didn't vote for you regret our action.

Just like your name those were stories,the first agenda is to recover money spend in their heavy campaigns especially after discovering they will earn peanuts.
