This is not interesting for the sugar industry.

Mumias Sugar Company (MSC) is mulling to establish a milk processing plant after it launched a farmers’ dairy project to boost cane production and create additional income for grower.

Wow! Didn't know it was possible to turn sugar into milk. So the end product will be sugared milk... d'oh!

No wonder net selling by foreigners today.

Sugar, Water, Power, Mollases are all related... The processes can feed off each other.

How is milk related to the business?
What is Mumias upto? What next? Horticulture? Property development?

I guess its not doing anything yet since they haven't launched their proposed 15billion rights issue that will finance the project!

There is massive dilution coming to mumias shareholders!

A KQ like rights issue? If so, then the rights price will be in the Kes 1s range. Add that dilution to the current liquid shares, we might have a sub 1/- trading candidate...

Im thinking 5billion shares at 3bob rights price!

This will make it a 3:1 rights issue...

Please, let the experts correct me if I'm wrong.

From the Price Movement graph, I noticed that prior to the IPO and Share split, there was a very noticeable rise in share price. I assume market manipulation. Therefore, much as a right issue is anticipated, it will most probably happen when there is another sharp rise in share price, no?

Was it also like this with KQ?

The share price rise was as a result of a 2:1 bonus issue announcement... The same has been happening recently with eaagads

And if you are talking about 2010 when it hit 14bob that was the due to the market & economic recovery.. (3bob-14bob was sweet for some) smile

And FYI mumias has never had a share split!

Stock is very good for technical play. Bought @4.75 last year. Collected div @0.30 sold cum div this year @6.20. Price goes below @4 and i will repeat. Sugar is a basic commodity and world sugar production is never enough to satisfy demand .

From the BD

Quote:
But the biggest shadow brooding over the sugar industry in Kenya is the impending removal of the so called Comesa safeguards, namely, the temporary arrangement the government negotiated with the trading bloc to insulate the local industry from imports.

Now and again, we are reminded that our local industry risks being swept way by Comesa imports the moment the safeguards are lifted.

That-if the millers don’t put their houses in order-if the factories don’t reduce production costs drastically- the industry will die come 2014 when the safeguards are lifted.

@Njunge and others, what say you about the above?
