Anti-kikuyu sentiments in this country have always been close to the ground and any politician or populist will be trying to play them to achieve their selfish objectives. We saw it happen in the run-up to the last polls with a disastrous outcome.

I know hassan closely back from our college days at moi in the late 90s and he can be described as many things but he is not a tribalist. Trust me am also trying to make sense of his bold and brutal comments in that article. As a kikuyu they leave me with a bitter taste in my mouth but I refuse to fall in to their trap by reacting in the way they expect.

Remember prior to 2002 when majimbo talk used to be used to silence kikuyus politically and then mwangi kiunjuri led a group of kikuyu mps in declaring that they actually support a majimbo system. The majimbo talk ended right there. Its called reverse psychology.

Kibaki has given the kikuyu bashers plenty of ammunition. The big question is; will kikuyus take a defensive and isolationist stance again? Will the community box itself into a corner once again?
