The company has been experiencing negative social media comments mainly customer dissatisfaction both from products and customer service. Also negative sentiments on the "new" CEO and lack of any clear innovative product since Bob left.

Kshs. 16 bob coming soon.
If Saf cannot maintain profitability, he is out BUT I do have a question.

Is he related to any of the political leadership?
Any connection with the Ndegwas of ICEA/First Securities?

No relations at all. This Ndegwa is a son of a farmer in Ol kalau.

Social media comments are not new for Safaricom.

Ndegwa will deliver. Too much money to be made from leveraging on what is already existing

And the Ol Kalou farmer is related to who

What can you not understand from Murchr statement above? CEO Ndegwa is not dynasty. Yeye kama mimi ni son of a peasant who has worked hard all his life to be where he is today...hapo C-Suite. Not all Kenyans are related to someone noteworthy....labda his grandfather is an unsung MauMau veteran who went back to peasantry immediately after he left Manyani maximum prison in 1962 after serving 9 years jailterm without trial...

When Airtel dropped call charges to 3/= Bob matched the call rates and later raised Safaricom's call rate 4/= saying that the low calling rate of 3/= was not sustainable. People made a lot of noise but continued calling on Safaricom higher 4/= per minute....

The company is heading in the WRONG direction. They should have maintained the momentum and be at the leading edge of technology.

Quote:
Safaricom has put on ice plans to launch Kenya’s first fifth-generation (5G) mobile internet services in a retreat that will see the telco focus on growing 4G network in the race to boost data use.

Peter Ndegwa, the Safaricom CEO, says there is no plan to launch the 5G network in the short-term, adding that the telco’s immediate plan is to convert millions of 2G and 3G users to 4G.

The firm had completed testing and trial for the 5G superfast internet service and planned to switch major urban centres to the service before end of this month.

KWS, BRS, NHIF, NTSA, Kenya Forest Services (KFS) and the latest Kenya Ferry Services (KFS)....

More and more government services available only to Safaricom customers. It seems Safaricom is Government and Government is Safaricom; free market be damned. What's next, fine or jail for anyone without a Safaricom line?

Disclosure: I own Safaricom shares, but feel shaking down poor people for profit is immoral. They ought to have choice in a free market.

I think choice of payment options is the fault of the owner of the service(Govt & Institutions).... not the fault of someone that has a payment solution that luckily works in most scenarios
