Question, why was the gender bill not passed? Is it not a constitutional requirement? Jubilee has majority, enough to pass. Bunch of hypocrites (with exception of those who voted for the fee bill). It seems your mind has already been prejudiced by the cord lies against jubilee. The gender bill was being voted by both the political divides. Infact this was going to be a very good opportunity for cord to prove itself as the majority of mpigs in the jubilee were not in the house. The question is where were the cord lawmakers to make the 2/3 a reality? Or did I get everything wtong? It's true that Cord also has a mandate to support the bill, but the fact that Jubilee has majority, and yet they claim to be constitutional, but fail to pass a bill that the constitution requires is worrying. FIY I'm not a Cord. The failure of the Gender bill has more to do with male chauvinism more than anything else. Male Mpigs from both divides ganged up to defeat the bill because they view it as a threat to their own political existence. “People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.” ― Walter C. Question, why was the gender bill not passed? Is it not a constitutional requirement? Jubilee has majority, enough to pass. Bunch of hypocrites (with exception of those who voted for the fee bill). The gender bill is still in parliament <-The body mandated to debate these issues and make laws -> Now who elects those people in parliament? If your elected member is not serving your interests, it is your DEMOCRATIC right to elect him out. The male MPs (both Cord and Jubilee) came together to kill the bill even with Uhuru's plea to them to pass the law. Why have we not seen you demonstrating about the gender bill? The reality is these protests are being used as a way to remain in the news. Is this not an effort to enlighten readers of the very subject that you are accusing me of not protesting about? Protesting is not the only way to deal with matters. Ungesoma gazetti then you'd know Quote:President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Members of Parliament to pass the Gender Rule Bill seeking to amend the Constitution to allow for nomination of more women to Parliament to meet the two-thirds gender rule threshold.
The President says the Bill will empower the government to take legislative measures to realise the two-thirds principle and also secure gender equity in government. Quote:A Bill to entrench two-thirds gender rule was on Thursday rejected by MPs despite spirited lobbying by women parliamentarians.
The legislators for a second time went against pleas by ODM and TNA chairmen John Mbadi and Johnson Sakaja respectively to have the laws passed.
The bill was supported by a paltry 178 members, far below the required 233 votes.
Out of the 180 MPs present, 16 voted against the bill while five did not vote.
The House has 349 members and as many as 150 did not show up or rather did not vote. Quote:John Njoroge (Kasarani) said he boycotted the vote as the bill gave room for people to nominate their ‘girlfriends’ to the House.
“This House is already bloated. This is another way of giving people’s girlfriends free tickets. Women should fight on an equal footing with men,” he said.
“We already have women in the House and their performance is below par. We do not have to fill the numbers in the House. Kenyans are entitled to quality representation,” said Deputy Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo (Gem). “We already have a big problem in the House on huge numbers. Rather than increasing the numbers, we should be talking about cutting the parliamentary seats. We are over represented and even those currently in parliament hardly get time to contribute in the House,” said Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills). Women MPs expressed disappointment that the bill had failed.

The real ones not the toa mbegu brigade D32 I agree with you but please don't leave out the odomos in this. They should also have picketed for this... The only way you shall get jubilee leaders speaking with one sentence is when you start a sentence with Raira. The only way you shall get odomos speaking with one sentence is when you say salary. In other news, as the police were busy sweeping the streets with water, some traders went home with no business and no money to feed their kids. The only way to unite jubilee bloggers and odm bloggers is when you give each of them an excuse for causing mayhem in the streets. All for their demi gods. I hear its 2k to tweet for either of these fellows. Let's wait for the raira calls for investigating the deaths, and the jubilee mp's saying that raira should be arrested. In the meantimes, on Monday give your employees an off day. Thieves are not good people. Tumeelewana?

Soma gazetti wachana na gumzo za tweets za Alai Just need to get where my post contradicts the quotes from the papers that you've posted. I (and I'm sure others) just need integrity from Jubilee. They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.

These high temperature events revolving around IEBC and the constitution just happened to clearly expose Jubilee not being true to their word, which calls for a rebuke, which is for their own good, no ill intentions. They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.

Soma gazetti wachana na gumzo za tweets za Alai Just need to get where my post contradicts the quotes from the papers that you've posted. I (and I'm sure others) just need integrity from Jubilee. Don't you get it. Its upto MPs to decide, not street protests. The powers are clearly stated in chapter 15. Anything else is a circus. The reason your MP is in parliament is so that he, with others can debate and come up with resolutions and amendments to the law. You said its jubilee that killed the bill, I told you, its the male MPs who dont want it, from both sides. And they gave their reasons. There are so many other bills that have been passed in parliament. If CORD is genuine, they would have used parliament or the courts to take out these commissioners. But they are trying to give a narrative that not so many are agreeing to "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. The problem is you hope when you should fear & fear when you should hope: - Jesse Livermore .
