thanks, how many counties are they operating in? Anyone who could be having their strategic plan
I know nothing about their strategic plan but here are some of branches they have in different counties
http://www.unaitas.com/branches.php
so they are basically in about 3 counties?? Muranga, Nairobi and Kiambu with one branch in Nakuru also. They still got a long way to go
There are strategic reasons for focusing on those particular counties and reasons why they may not do well in certain counties..
When equity bank started , it was in few selected districts that had possibility of growth in terms of business and expansion . They mainly focused on Nairobi , central province and a very handful of other districts by then and had the name equity building society . Later when the survived liquidation in the 90s they developed a strategic plan . Cut the story short they changed their name from building society to equity bank then expanded all over Kenya .
I do believe the change of name from muramati to unaitas (Or unite us ) has something to do with expansion prospects just like equity building society to equity bank, then to equity group ( since they are now focusing on telecommunication services like equitel). Same reason could be why the change from muramati to unaitas.
Honestly it will be very very hard to sell products in other counties with the name muramati bank, though hypothetically speaking it's the product that sells and not the name of bank but this doesn't apply to here Kenya. That's just my thoughts and wazo langu
