Blonde question:

Kengen's market capitalization as of close of trading 5/25/2016 is 14.29 B. After rights issue is complete new capital of 28.8 B will have been added so capitalization should be 14.29 + 28.8 = 42.09 B.

However, If hypothetically after rights start trading and price is at KES 2/= then capitalization will be ~6.6 B shares * 2 = 13.2 B. My question is where does the around ~30 B cash vanish to? Nobody has made this money so no wealth was transferred. Isn't that like money vanishing into a black hole?

ignore that Govts 20 B is debt convertion.

Can't add capitalisation to Shareholders funds.

current amount of shareholders is quite high, I think 60B or so.

At the end of the rights 28.8B will be added to shareholders funds.

Shareholder funds will be about KES 180 Bn after the rights issue

This is a tragedy. Based on analysis I will wait out the storm and buy postissuance

I second you in this man obi

In the words of a famous wazuan:

Please do your research, homework, term papers, thesis then decide whether that stock is good for you...

Beware of the slaughter house...where buyers are shown fresh succulent slices of meat...they are attracted to them and then when you take them home to cook, they will turn out to be old bones in red paint...

The juicy EPS last year was the butcher's call

I visited my local Kenya power offices recently. The meter readers are so lazy they have not read my meter since July

This is why I know God loves me... Sold half my stock at 7 bob that I had bought at an average of 6 bob looking to re enter at below 5 bob...

But Friday will be a blood bath when these @Ebenyo, @Spikes and crew rush into the market...

You read my mind. I will enter at sub 5 n exit at 6.

This is not material announcement. The minimum price on Friday shall be 6.25 .There is room for exit with minor injuries.

The stock is unlikely to tank.. Just a slight wobble at best

With EPS of 1.08, Revenue up 28%, PBT up 29%, shareholder funds of KES 367Bn etc. all rationality shows that the share price should be stable.

But we all know about market rationality in the short term.... This one will bleed until H1 2017 results.

PAT gives the real picture considering they received a tax credit(approx 3 billion) in FY15 for Olkaria phase IV development.
The 2:1 rights shares was the beginning of the problems for kengen shareholders going forward

@guru267 simply the best.. better than all the rest

And just like that, KEGN stopped paying out dividends. We know what's happening here, immediately after the rights issue
