As a shareholder I will REFUSE anything less than 300/- as the conversion price! The 'delay' will help us coz KPLC will show better profits making it harder for GoK to screw us with a Conversion Price of 200/-...

GoK has to propose a conversion price, then KPLC has to come to the shareholders (Yes, the minority shareholders too)...

@VVS all of us shareholders would definitely want a conversion price of 300 or more but i thought this conversion was based on a weighted average of the price since the announcement... which i have determined to be between 169-170 bob

Who said it should be based on the WAP?
Why should we accept that?
The reason the price is 'depressed' is because of uncertainty caused by GoK.
I hope you are a shareholder who is vocal. We need to fight this tooth & nail if at less than 300/-

KPLC is at is uppermost trading ranges....unless they find a way of continually increasing electricity prices year after year...which means ALL industrial companies will have to close down or start producing their own power...and where will GOK be when that happens?...this stock is cornered..

NB:This are the opinions of an imaginative mind and should not be taken seriously

The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

I recommend a strong drink for you!

1) They can't raise prices till 2012 when it comes up for review... And it is an election year!

2) The key is INCREASE in supply from KenGen, IPPs, etc... Unfortunately, the cheapest source is KenGen's hydro but rain dependent!

3) Efficiencies. Better technical capacity means lower losses. Monitoring should have improved after fibre-optics were installed.

4) Theft/Vandalism. KPLC is installing (more expensive) 'dry' transformers to keep away crooks!

5) IMHO, I think 25/- EPS (after dilution of Preference Shares) means it is at a decent PER.

25/- for 2009-10 but I expect even better in 2010-11 though I will not venture an EPS until I read the 2010-11 Annual Report.

Remember that AFTER the conversion, the 'preference dividend' is no more thus that is added back to the PAT for shareholders (less regular dividends for additional shares)...
