The technical team that accompanied her to the Senate on Tuesday, including Education PS Belio Kipsang and the Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development (KICD) chief executive Julius Jwan, dismayed.

"The Ministry of Education is fully prepared and has made adequate arrangements for the continued implementation of the competency-based curriculum in terms of teaching materials, facilities and teachers,” said the technical team in its presentation.

those should be the easiest points to implement, if you cant trust teachers to give honest results why trust them to teach in the first place, plus there were supposed to be several national/regional exams over that period.

That said the biggest failure was the infrastructure and resources needed for the new system, for a competency based system one that moves away from the 3 day national exams that are supposed to test a ids 8 years of work, we would need labs and other facilities, I think that is where the issue came up.

Have you just landed from mars? Why are teachers asked to stay away from schools during national exams? You havent heard teachers implicated in leakage and cheating? All in thr name of popularizing their schools and to win end year gifts for 'great' performance? Giving such teachers 70% chance to choose who becomes your doctor 20 yrs from now, you're very happy about that?


Exams (specifically KCPE & KCSE) is what slows down the development of our country and peoples educations. They are purposely done to reduce the opportunities for students admission to the next level because the govt is too myopic to realise that everyone needs education.

How come universities don't have a collective examining body. The lecturers determine your performance. the same should be applied to all levels of education. The govt should be restricted to setting standards.

Laughing out loudly yours truly isnt that young. Now, 8-4-4 implementation plan failed so its not something to emulate. This new system is being rushed. Surely developing curriculum content should be the easiest thing. No way you can develop a curriculum as you implement, the kids will easily outgrow you! Let them develop entire curriculum say for primary level first and address all other teething problems b4 implementing.

Worse still, you develop grade 2 course book, yet you do not have full curriculum for 3-9. The curriculum for entire grade 1-9 need to be developed first so that you are sure the entire program is wholesome, there are no gaps and will produce intended results. And then, the people making noise are complaining about money lost. Nobody is asking whether children are really getting better education or not. And then the cost of implementation. Nobody worked out the cost at the beginning. Imagine that. Govt doesn't have the money

How can it have failed yet it has been in existence for 29 years going to be 30 in 2019. In fact you still want it to continue to be in existence.

844 is expired. It is not in tandem with the new age. Anyone graduating without learning how to use a computer can not claim to be learned. The world moved on, most candidates are obsolete.

And Amina is the problem here, there's a reason guys at MFA threw a party when she left.

This thread not about 8-4-4. It's an imperfect system, but you dont scrap it off and replace with anything...8-4-4 wasnt that bad. But can you respond to real issues regarding 2-6-6-3 roll-out. ION, today there was a multi sect oral seminar of stakeholders and experts in education sector. They noted that 2-6-6-3 was hastily rolled out without adequate planning and recommended that the roll-out be delayed till 2020 to enable govt put the house in order. Am vindicated. I hope they get it right. Am hopeful Amina will do it right this time round

amina is a total disaster in the education ministry.
first teachers are being transferred in a random way .and now boys are being admitted in girls school.this may not have happened in the Kenyan education history.
